A firm closely tied to the Trump campaign exploited data from 50 million Facebook users

Uh... no. 240,000 users or so agreed to take the test. The Application harvested without permission the information of all of their contacts who did NOT agree to provide any data. Leading to 50 million compromised users and the situation Facebook is in now.

FB gave the same type of data to the Obama campaign. Then hired the same people they had conspired with. How can anyone be sure they didn't do the same thing this election?

I can't feel too sorry for morons who put their entire lives on a platform like FB.

Actually the real story here is the abuse of 50 million Americans Facebook information in a manner not aligned with the FB privacy policy you agreed to when you joined the website. The issue here involves personal privacy as per user agreements on the web.

The other part of the story is the "weaponization" of personal information by political campaigns to either target individuals personally or target groups of people for persuasion. Does it sound similar to the operation that the Russians are running? Well it is.

If one major American political party is doing this then I expect both are.

First of all, nobody's personal privacy was violated. The data that was allegedly stolen was owned by Facebook. The media is covering Zuckerburg's ass by not reveling that all information, photos, video clips, and what not, that a user posts on Facebook is no longer their property. It is the sole property of Facebook. If you asked the typical shithead user of Facebook if they actually knew what was in Facebook's user agreement they wouldn't have a freaking clue. You don't have personal privacy if it owned by corporation. The story will never be covered from a factual basis because Zuckerburg donates to the correct political party and its an insurance policy that is paying off.

Secondly, I don't care what Facebook's policy agreement says. If you post something on social media it has entered the public domain and you have no right to privacy for something you posted online.

Third. The democrats see the whole collusion story is unraveling in front of their eyes so they need something else to cling onto. The have this story and the credibility of a porn star to cling to.

Obama did this very thing in 2012 and was praised for it!!! I dont recall you complaining about it back then.

Yes, we know KKK. The Guardian and the NYT hate the Klan thus you hate them.

Thanks but I wouldn't trust The Guardian even as much as I do the NYT, ie not at all.

I will treat this kind of thing seriously when the democrats admit that vote fraud is a serious issue and in fact their go-to strategy for close elections. They can bus tens of thousands of illegal aliens to the polls in friendly precincts run by corrupt democrats and can magically get >100% turnout in black wards, and the media look the other way or worse, complain about efforts to insure vote integrity. So frankly, I could care less about ridiculous claims that data mining of FB accounts is a big issue.

This scam is about convincing gullible FB users that Trump is a very bad person and they should dislike him and not vote for him. Same with the Stormy story. It is aimed at clueless middle aged and older people who still watch the evening news and propaganda shows like 60 Minutes.

It's good enough for their purposes if they can just get these people turned off so they don't bother to vote. That way democrats don't have to bring in as many illegals to cancel the votes of citizens.

There's more than one way for Democrats to obtain votes...
