Didn't we already refute this stupid myth? First, it is all liquid included (soup, tea, beer), not just pure water, second, do you really think a 200 lbs guy needs 12 glasses of water???
Sorry I never read the whole thread, of course you would have to come to ET for people to actually claim this was a 'myth'.
We are almost entirely made up of water, not replenishing yourself with h2o can have a huge affect on our body both physically and mentally. Any liquids are good BUT if you are consuming liquids like beer, coffee, soda etc, your body will end up having to work harder to process those liquids in the end dehydrating you. That's why for every drink other than water you should follow up with an equal amount of room temp water. Same thing when drinking ice cold water, your body can't use that water until it warms it up to proper temp, again making your internals work to use it.
Water carries nutrients, helps metabolism, cools our body, keeps our blood diluted, flushes out toxins. A person who is dehydrated will have low blood pressure and high pulse rate because your blood level is down and also thicker so the heart will have to work harder and faster to circulate. Starving the brain of water will lead to confusion, effecting your decision making.
Do I think a 200 lbs guy needs 12 glasses of water? Well its not like its going to kill you if you don't reach that limit everyday but for your over all health and longevity for sure its important. The bigger you are the more water you need. The skin is the last vital organ that will receive whatever water you have left over, so if you have bad skin its a good sign you need to drink more. Have you ever seen the complexion of someone who drinks a lot of water beside someone who doesn't? It's like night and day.
Ya when you start to drink more water of course you will have to use the can more often, but if you consistently keep it up your body will adapt and going to bathroom will become less frequent.
