I used to think you were a bit of a loser, based on your overconfident market predictions that you then ducked when they went wrong. However on this thread you have given a good account of yourself, totally running rings around your opposition, and doing so whilst maintaining grace and good manners.
I will in fact take my hat off to you if you follow through and sue atticus, I would laugh my ass off if it happened and you actually won (although just making him have to appear in court would be hilarious in itself). I recommend you hurry up, because that guy gets so hot under the collar on every thread, there is a very real chance he is going to have a coronary and keel over dead before you get to collect
Also, is it just me or does atticus's anti-paedo rant remind you of those politicians who go out of their way to bash gays, or close down prostitution rings? You know, guys like Spitzer, who it later turns out were dipping their wick into the same bowl of porridge they were ranting about for so long. Just like those cases, this time methinks the lady doth protest too much. Perhaps you hit on a nerve, and atticus likes his girls on the young side?

Lets say I was arrested as a result of his false and malicious statements then I would have damages. Then I could go through the civil court system which I have learned in the past is someplace that you dont want to ever be. The Discovery process is so invasive. The Plaintiff can subpoena just about anything thats related such as your computers. The Depositions are worse then police interrogations. You dont have as many rights in a civil trial as you do a criminal trial. If you decide not to pay, then your bank account can be garnished, liens placed on your property and the judgement shows up on your credit report.
If I was this guy, I would simply issue a public retraction of all statements made in this thread specifically stating that they were made falsely and maliciously. Then I would have the homeowners insurance company settle the rest with me. I would be glad to sign a Full & Final Release of All Claims for 100 grand which is a small sum of money when compared to some of these rulings. Then I would call it water under the bridge. However, as long as he remains silent on the issues then its basically an open claim. If any damage results from it, then I can tell you the claim figure will be a lot more then 100 grand. If he went to just about any attorney, they would tell him that there is now an open claim and its best to settle it early on before it escalates out of control.
I could easily find an attorney should I have any damages and then they would gladly take it knowing that the guy has homeowner's insurance and significant assets. Therefore, its best to settle and close the claim early otherwise the limits of the homeowner's policy may not be enough to the pay the entire claim. I would say the damages might go into the millions.
Lets say he is in another country, I could simply form a corporation in that country and then go through their court system or utilize the mutual legal assistance treaties to enforce a US court judgement upon the person in the other country.
None of this takes all that much work...just time and walking into the courthouse.
So before jamming away on the internet thinking your words can do no wrong, the following link is a good read. I read through the entire thing and it opened my eyes and changed the way I communicate on the internet to people. The way to avoid lawsuits in the first place is to simply not piss anyone off which is the moral of the story.
