A drink to take the edge off...

I prefer the Dave Van Ronk version of Cocaine Blues. :D
(Instrumental intro, then)
C
Every time I meet my baby, go uptown
F
Police come and they knock me down
C F G C G C
Cocaine, run all around my brain

Chorus:
E
Yeah baby, come here quick
F
This ol' cocaine 'bout to make me sick
C F G C G C
Cocaine, run all around my brain

Yonder comes my baby, dressed in red
She's got a shotgun, says she's gonna kill me dead
Cocaine, run all around my brain

(Instrumental chorus-E variation #1)
Cocaine, run all around my brain

Early one mornin', half past four
Cocaine knockin', at my door
Cocaine, run all around my brain

(Instrumental chorus)

You take Mary, I'll take Sue
Aint no difference, twix the two
Cocaine, run all around my brain

Yeah baby, come here quick
This ol' cocaine 'bout to make me sick
Cocaine, run all around my brain

Started down Beale Street and I'm turnin' up Main
Lookin' for a gal who sells cocaine
Cocaine, run all around my brain

(Instrumental chorus-E variation #2)
Cocaine, run all around my brain

Well I reached into my pocket, grabbed my polk
Note in my pocket says "No more coke!"
Cocaine, run all around my brain

Umm hmm
Umm hmm
Cocaine, run all around my brain

Cocaine's for horses, not for men
They tell me it'll kill me but they won't say when
Cocaine, run all around my brain

Yeah baby, come here quick
This ol' cocaine 'bout to make me sick
Cocaine, run all around my brain

(Intro music)

Hope you dont get this wrong on your next test...

Drinking is to trading as:

a) Fire is to Hay

b) christianity is to al-qaeda

c) salt is to slug

d) all of the above

Can you just imagine, Warren Buffett and is pal Charlie Munger, having a coupla shots before putting a $billion on the next one into the fold?

Think clearly.

I look at drinking and trading like this.

When I was in college, it took me 3-4 days to prepare for the Biology exams. Literally, studying and reviewing hours each night. Going to bed at a set time.

My friend was able to do one night of studying and drinking and ace the exam. On the other hand, I came out with a C.

My conclusion is that some people might be better at trading and investing with a couple of drinks. It depends on the individual.

Would I trust a chronic drinker with investing my own personal cash? Would I hire them to manage an account of any type? Nope, no way.

However, I do acknowledge the fact some drunk traders might be better at their job then some sober ones. . .

Who said anything about being drunk? I said ONE drink. I swear some of you are illiterate or choose to ignore the fact that we are talking about one drink here, not a 60 sec kegstand followed by a 5 funnel beer bong followed by a triple shot of JD.

Seriously folks, reading comprehension skills are important. Its fine if you do not agree with what I am suggesting but at least lets all get on the same page here. ONE drink, thats it.

Hate to say it but I think your friend was just smarter than you.

Judging by the response to your NYC Happy Hour, you do not have very many friends!

Hey,

Stop picking on eagle488, you guys are sooooo harsh! :p

Cocaine, I think it's a stupid ass idea, but it's your money, your trading, your life, do whatever the hell you want.

You've gotten the weigh-in, nobody (seriously) thinks it's a good idea, but if you want to do it, then shutup and do it and stop arguing with people who think you're an idiot and a train wreck in the making.

The other guy was right, this is a stupid ass thread.

JJ

edit: oh wait, it is the weekend, right?
