yes i know stocks stop moving up long before the index does [stops moving up]....they keep moving the index up and novices buy stocks because the index is moving up and the big boys distribute to them happily and go on vacation.I agree, I see no top in the Dow. But, the absence of evidence of a top is not evidence of absence of a top.
Since February, it has not been worth the risk to buy the Dow as it has been impossible to say we have not had a top. We have not formed a downtrend, but price has not been rising in an uptrend either so cash has been the best bet.
I have taken a small long position in the S&P, but that was only based on a small recent bull flag, not a full-on uptrend trade.
that might have happened, seeing the movement of the dow :one way up.in that case we are looking at a 10000 drop in dow
you are very sensible not buying stocks....it may be a few months before things become clear because they need a lot of time to distribute.....in the meantime they will keep the dow volatile if there is low volatility expect movement up or down
