A doctor bikes across the country to ask Americans about Obamacare. This is how he ended up feeling hopeful

But as he made his way west, Gordon’s feelings evolved. His depression gave way to a new sense of resolve. As a doctor, he could and should do something about the anger he was hearing.
...

A few weeks later, after he arrived in Seattle, Gordon told me he was feeling good about the journey and the more than 100 conversations he’d had across the country.

“I’m tired,” he admitted. But he was thinking about another potential project – a ride across Canada to talk with Canadians about their healthcare system.

My guess is our world might become a bit better when many policy makers/analysts are willing to proactively do similar to what the doctor did - Conversations!

Just 2 cents!

Thanks for wasting the 2 1/2 minutes it took me to read a pointless article. I'll summarize. The author, a liberal med school prof, talked to a few people on his trip. Almost all were understandably pissed off that their insurance had gone up to pay for illegals and deadbeats. The doc, like Obama, was disappointed at just how awful and ungrateful the people are.

His idea is that docs should spend more time explaining Obamacare to their patients. That advice alone shows how out of touch he is. Most docs struggle to find time to do a competent exam of their patients. Reimbursement rates are so low for many types of practice, their only hope of making the income of a first year lawyer is to cram as many patients as possible through each day. They don't have time to tutor people on insurance or get into political discussions.
