great entertainment, ET = Entertaining Traders
by Nedster
ET can be a very entertaining site. The owner is pretty lenient for the most part, as long as you don't criticize his sponsors. Argument threads can explode in size rapidly as people bicker back and forth, and this makes for entertaining reading.
The biggest problem ET faces is the same problem the industry as a whole faces... declining numbers of active traders. The old edges of yesterday are now gone, many firms have closed up shop, just take a trip thru Chicago and notice how many "former traders" you will meet. What this means for ET is that there is a decline in quality content as real traders leave the business, and an increase in trolls, wannabees, and stealth vendors, as they are slowly becoming all that is left. Instead of real traders you get the keyboard guru aka hindsight expert... hobbyists and retirees pretending like they are big shot career traders. Some of these folks adopt guru personas and make ridiculous performance claims for purposes of luring in noobs for "mentoring". Sign of the times.
There are some interesting news articles posted, but not much else useful trading info. But you will find lots of fun and crazy hijinks. that is what makes the site special. Such as the most active part of the site: Politcs & Relgion Flamewar section. Also Marketsurfer and his Surf Report threads. Or Atticus/Convexx and his weightlifting advice and bad temper. Or watch DBPhoenix, Nodoji, MFBreakout, and Jack Hershey stringing along their cult-like followings of noobs. Or the seeming endless stream of TA/anti-TA arguments.
A better site than its main competitor, BigMike's. BM suffers all the same drawbacks of ET, but without any of the entertainment perks.

Even though I personally run and own Elitetrader, I must honestly say is is a cesspool of idiocy.
We allow paid advertisers to post misleading information to our hapless users for the few sheckles they pay us.
I am grateful that elitetrader has allowed my to live off the proceeds for a decade , but the income stream in failing and I must get a job as a Walmart Greeter
