Self-absorption, an unawareness of the views or needs of others taken to an extreme and you get Ayn, or any other extremist, left, right, or the supposed libertarian. Proves that any ideology taken to absurdity cannot prevail. It's just as silly to believe we only serve ourselves as it is to think we can adequately serve everyone, yet we must learn that the best way to help ourselves is to help another. Bit of a paradox.
Mental system is based on Hatred. Looks like someone who has been abused (keeping all deep for herself may be because of shame/guilt or powerlessness when these took place) AND has never sorted herself, and certainly believes she does not need sorted.
To explain this personality easily, one could think of the "sons/daughters/children of Belial" ( easiest way to explain this personality type is through Catholicism/pure Thora Judaism ( not the sects flavors)).
Interesting personality to heal : only extremely skilled psychiatrists and Jesuits who
are specialized in demonology can help this type of personalities. Best for these
type of women to be in a covent for 2/3 years undergoing frequent "self-reflections".

Rand immigrated from Russia, where her family's business was confiscated by the Bolsheviks, and this surely inspired her quest for a new Philosophy. We still have a collective memory of the excesses of fascism and McCarthyism, but probably under-appreciate the extent to which the dispossession of the upper and middle classes in Russia bred fear throughout the West and inspired those excesses.
Not all Russian immigrants fell in the "wrong crowd" as Rand seemed to have, according to those
who claim strong affinities with her "philosophy". Let's quote here

Or could it be that Rand was already into this type of things before emigrating?
