A charity auction to have lunch with Warren Buffett has hit a record before it is even over.

If you want to contribute to a charity, good on you!

But if you're paying a high price for Buffett's advice, should be advised he hasn't even kept up with the S&P 500 over the last 10 years, let alone outperformed. (Brk.A has underperformed the SPY by ~ 25% since the '09, low.)

Buffett doesn't get direct infusions from the Fed you know, only the stock market does.

BRK.A also underperformed SPY back in the dot com days. He had the last laugh then, so I won't want to bet against him.

Buffet would be bankrupt had accounting rules were not changed during last financial crisis. Once marked to market was removed and managers were allowed to price/estimate the value of their papers by themselves, the game became very easy and and it saved their asses.

Of course, non of us mere mortals would get such a break.

Watched a video on him, cool dude, same house only 500K's worth for 40+years, drives normal kinda 40K car for many years, despite being the 3rd richest man on the planet.
