It's similar to Star Trek, maybe even better :)
Definitely much better than the current "Star Trek: Discovery", which is IMO crap.
I like The Orville.

I gave up this show like 3 episodes into it. It's the "SpaceBalls" of Star Trek, and is a tired old parody style that just doesn't work for me. You can keep it.

You should try season 2, it gets much better.
And I believe the upcoming season 3 will win many prizes like the Emmy Awards etc.

In season 1 at least the episodes 4, 5, 6 are IMO very good stories.

No thanks. I'll just wait for some more "Star Trek: Discovery", which is a refreshing take that uses a weird hybrid timeline/adjunct thing from different canons of ST. I find it fascinating how they can weave elements from different lines into a whole new experience. The Spore drive? WTF! Cool stuff.
 
"Star Trek: Lower Decks" is good too. It's animated series.
It's intended more towards younger generations, but not necessarily for kids :-)

You have to be a Trekkie to like Star Trek or The Orville :-)
As said "Star Trek: Discovery" is definitely not Star Trek, it's just crap :-)

Tsing Tao perhaps named after Ray Tsing Tao in the original series. Ask him :) I sense he is a Ray, he has Ray vibes.

The Orville does get watchable and becomes it's own thing not a parody. StarTrek Lower Decks I just could not get into.
