i hope you are not new to trading...
i used to trade daily charts from 1987 to 2007 and when i found Brooks i made huge losses for a more than a deacade, following him, even though i was hugely knowledgeable and profitable daily time frame trader.
he is difficult to understand and he is extremely confusing in the begining
no trader should use 5 min unless he has mastered everything in technical
analysis and is profitable in other time frames

I am concentrating on Brooks solely from 2007 and Darc is wrong, i know Al only as well as he knows himself......
i would prefer the op concentrates on trade logic rather than repeat Brooks.......
God knows Brooks has written enough so it is not necessary for COPY CAT VESRIONS so please do not repeat his lessons. He might sue you because you are giving a lot away free
Brooks IS A GENIUS but i have to hasten to add that genius in not necessary to trade...he is over qualified
big mistake in the middle chart saying market looked like forming a wedge top.....it can form any number of reversal patterns in a tight bull or bear channel and they will all be faded by BPA traders like myself.....if i choose to trade in a tight channel.......
clean up your chart use only a 20 ma do not insult Brooks

bar 64 to 76 yesterday formed a bear channel , which is a bull flag and after the three bull bar breakout of the channel into yesterday's close...and A bull gap open today you did not need Brooks to tell you to look for longs.....
so forget all the bullshit terminology that he uses-old wine in new names- and just trade......
you have to understand Brooks is a show off and he wants to impress so that you cough up the subscription......

incidentally so does Brooks....
he is simple.
is the market trending or ranging..... is it a trend day or a range day
if it is a trend day get long/short
if it is a range day then look for all the other crap...3 pushes, 2 legs, trend line breaks, DB DT higher low, lower high, bull channels [bear flags] bear channels[bull flags]
or find another chart or instrument...this is the best

Today I won't post my chart markup exercise for obvious reasons. I don't want Al Brooks to sue me for IP infringement. I'm posting a plain bar chart with bar numbers to go with my end-of-day summary table.
BTW this is just a personal trading journal. I'm a total beginner, new to PA new to trading (sorry to disappoint you @padutrader); I have not much to give, and not much at stake either. I wanted to keep journaling and keep a copy of my journal on a public server, for backup. that is all.

i am making this clear-- I'm not an Al Brooks trader. none of the chart markup exercises is meant to be a promo of any one TA school or person, and oh-god-no a showoff of my personal TA work (i mean, surely no one remotely thought that way anyway?!, that would be laughable, as you can tell, i'm a total beginner!!). so please don't sue me.
I had / have a PA weakness. Two months ago (ca. end of August 8/27) I stumbled across Al Brooks. I followed his youtube advice/tutorial to do those markup exercises every night, in addition to other planning work i was already doing. I didn't buy his course (I'm too cheap). Just studied free materials and his books (haven't even finished). It made a positive difference to my bottom line, but to me most importantly, it significantly reduced my trading anxiety. To me, Al brooks is just one pill that seems to effectively address my PA weakness condition. There are many other "pills" that can work for other traders. Who cares what pill one takes if it gets the trader onto the right track? all reasonably logical "pills" should work if one takes them consistently (study), and works hard to prevent infection in the first place (learn from mistakes and rid of them). vice versa, good pills will fail if one does not put in the necessary work. I'm aware of that. Mentally I'm ready to invest 10k hours minimum to learn and improve my craft.
I sincerely apologize for insulting al brooks or anyone for any reason by starting this thread. (wish dante is still around on ET and will come out to tell me i'm the biggest c*nt for starting this thread LOL). though not sure that I'd tell my toddler, "hey i think your crawl is so ugly it's an insult to all the functioning adult human beings out there who have mastered the art of walking" (haha sorry just a funny analogy and bad joke that came to mind; maybe i would if that'd help him learn to walk faster hahahahaha)
i know you big guys/gals are eager for me to grow up and graduate from a novice. oh well what can i do, i'm a beginner and sometimes slow. I'm working on it, you'll have to be patient though. do keep the tough love coming.
enough of my soapbox. maybe i'll post my workout (that's non yardwork-based) tomorrow in lieu of trading journal, to lighten things up a bit, eh?
