sitting on my hands is what made me money (jesse livermore)
 
what do you do in a situation like this? You don't want to catch a falling knife. On the other hand, isn't it a bit late to get in short?

I suppose the answer is don't look at what it has done, look at what it is doing now. so go short?
 
I haven't traded yet (except currencies).

I have had one set up so far. However I missed it due to an urgent appointment with the throne room !!!

You are obviously working a different strategy to me. I tried scalping every move but somehow I too found less is more. There is always another setup around the corner.

Remember all you need is 1 or 2 5-10 pointers on the estoxx a day to make a consistent living. But don't listen to me - I had a net loss yesterday ! C'est la vie. :)
 
how did the currency trades go?

I am sure less is more. I don't know how to distinguish between average or very good trades yet, so i just take them all..

How does one distinguish?
 
Besides this i am also looking for a soluition how to press my winners. if anyone wants to contribute. the system right now is just if it goes my way quickly add another lot. almost always the market just turns..
 
Currency: Well I am quite up today in a matter of speaking - it just means I am properly hedged right now.

All because the UK retail sales showed growth. I would have thought this would have been bad for the pound, but then what do I know ?!

If you are scalping dont press your winners. It just makes it too complicated IMHO. Make it simple. Is there a reason why you are in? Is it still valid? If it is stay in, if it isnt get out. You can always get back in again - your commish is cheap enough to do this.

Missed another move now typing all this !!!
 
pretty dodgy those currencies not?

Myself I was doing pretty well, up 10 ticks, untill I lost a good twenty when the nokia news came out unexpectly for me. So I am down and out, hit my stoploss for the day.

Tomorrow another one. I feel more confident though. i could possibly have made twenty, if not for the nokia news.
 
The German PPI came out at 11am right? Something moved the estx50 around 40 points at that time...any suggestions for decent news sites in English for the EuroStoxx?
