A 70k bet that I can't make a 50% gain in 2009

Geez, great day! Hey, I did chart for DXD like you said, but the time, target and stop you gave in chat were totally different so the chart is wrong. We'll try again next time.

Geez, I've been shamelessly pumping your journal around here. Soon you'll have posts from Warren Buffet asking for day trading advice. :D

4/02/09:

Today's trades:

9:47 700 DIA BUY 79.28
*DIA gapped up after a strong move wed. and had a small pullback on the 5 min chart. I bought the 1st pivot on DIA over the 9:45 5 min bar (79.28), stop under the pivot and tgt at 79.88. Exit at 79.89

10:53 800 FAZ BUY 17.22
*FAZ was getting over sold since yesterday on the 5 min chart and at 10:50 set up a higher low. I bought over that bar 17.22, stop below the pivot 16.98 and tgt 17.72. Exit 16.97. FAZ turned after stopping me and to the tgt.

2:05 700 RIMM BUY 48.62
*RIMM put a small higher low in at 2:00. This is a move I really like b/c the overall days trend is up(and strong), but the last hour of RIMM was lower. When this higher low hits all the short term shorts get taken out and this usually makes a strong move. the entry was over the 2:00 5 min bar (48.62), stop below the bar I entered (48.32) and tgt at 49.22. Exit 49.20

3:06 600 DXD BUY 56.16
*DXD was in a downtrend on the 5 min chart up until 2:50. At 2:55 DXD makes a strong move, wiping out 4 prior bars of selling w/ one bar up (a good indicator for a change in direction). I watch for a higher low and get one at 3:05. I buy over the 3:05 bar (the top was 56.17, but when I entered it put me in at 56.16-good fill), stop under the 3:05 bar 55.83 and tgt of 56.86. Exit 56.89.

I am roughly 1/3 of the way to my target. I know this looks like one of your DAILY P/L totals Mr Weinstein (who invited one of the heavy hitters on to this thread anyway....hehehe), but for what I was trying to accomplish(12k each quarter) I am alittle ahead.
Hope that answers your question. Thanks for stopping by, your welcomed in anytime!Good trading to you Mr Weinstein.-G

Hello Geez,

Thanks for helping me understand better your trading.

I love trading more than any other job I have done. Even so actually in some trades it does get 'boring' or at least not a thrill to be in it for me. I find this to be a net positive as it takes the emotion out of the trade and makes it more what it should be, a business transaction. Like you I only trade on a few setups and each time its normally just a rerun of what I have seen many times.

Congrats on being 1/3 of the way to your target!! I wish you the best with your bet and more importantly your trading.

If you gonna be in Vegas May 30th you might as well get in the first ten rows of Fleetwood Mac for $795 : o )

Respectfully,

RW
