A 164-Year-Old Idea Helps Explain the Huge Changes Sweeping the World's Workforce

IMHO… globalization, free trade? (every time I order something from the U.S., I pay duty) or whatever weasel word is the flavor of the day, is a race to the bottom.
I'm fortunate enough to have some real estate and other investment, but I certainly feel for the middle class that's been gutted.
 
I fear your perception of me is skewed. Your unnecessary attempted insult re: my nick delineated you completely. I could easily have retorted with your nick sig reminds me of Siegfried and Roy, the gay couple with their lion act in Vegas, but I didn't bother. How would I benefit from childish kiddie pool behavior with a meaningless, anonynous person. I'm more centrist than some of my post make me appear. "Murica"is very far off my radar.

It's not related to Siegfried and Roy, but I don't know why in the world I'd be offended if you related me to them. Because they're gay? The fact that you see that as some kind of an insult both says a lot about you and reinforces my original view of you as a 'murican fitting of your handle. Of course the general discourse of your posts really defines you and that paints the picture of someone who would never knowingly quote Marx!
 
The same reason you thought it would offend me by your associating banjo with murica. If you didn't think it was insulting you wouldn't have said it. Did you think I thought she was perhaps quoting Groucho Marx. The general discourse of your posts clearly defines someone looking for a fight. Are you generally unhappy, miserable,look deeply into your life as you are now playing the fool. There's no good place for this psuedo conversation to go. BTW, insinuating someone is gay is about as insulting as insinuating they're left handed in my world. If it's meaningful in your world than there's a good chance you're surrounded by rednecks, people who believe in a magic creature in the sky who tells them to hate certain kinds of people, or the especially toxic combination of the two.
 
Oh siggy, you're so wasting your time. You have your opinions, I have mine. No old men with beards in the sky for me, nor moonshine. I don't hate anybody, that's a perception you own derived from the lens you employ to view the world. The good news for humanity is that you're not running anything but your mouth. We do seem to be several degrees off the original topic so perhaps we should just discontinue this insipid pointless banter and move on to more rewarding efforts.
 
Some people are seriously arguing for a basic wage whether working or not because with the rise of robotics there should be huge unemployment. Not a bad idea. I know some will waste their time watching TV or something but others might start a business, get more skilled etc.
