90% Profitable Setup

Speaking of maxspan when do you update your track record.

Curious as to how you made out for the month.

Why not show maxspan separate from the called trades?

April would be a good time to start.

Baron... you know I'm a fan of the site but really, doesn't this type of thing diminish ET? These people have your stamp of approval, right?

(With apologies to the company selling the snake oil - I actually have no problem with people like you fleecing the credulous. After all, its buyer beware. I just don't like to see it on a site that is supposedly for 'serious' traders).
 
Is there no one out there that can backtest this system?

Surely someone with Tradestation or similar software that allows backtesting could run the numbers.

Although it goes against common wisdom,(40 point stop 10 point profit) over the last few months it seems to have been effective.

i constantly debunk this myth

what matters is positive expectancy

not that one's "risk" (defined by stop distance) is less than one's reward (targeted profit)
 
hehe you guys are so funny. Can't believe that someone is actually running an honest business in this type of industry. If I believed everyone was a 100% crook I would not of set one foot in the trading world. It's ok. Its human to doubt. As usual I extend my offer. Shoot me an email and I'll give you a free trial to the site. You can see us educating and calling the profitble trades. Then you can write a full report.

Boib--Of course. The script is available to our members in TradeStation and they can back test to their hearts content. Of course previous history does not gaurantee future but we all run that risk with any system.

It's not that we can't believe someone would be running an honest business in this industry - plenty of people do that.

The problem is that someone would try to sell such an outrageous lie to beginners who probably don't understand that there never has been nor will there ever be a system that is '90% profitable on the YM'. I personally don't like this type of thing but...

...as I said, I have no problem with you guys fleecing the sheep. Sheep are made to be fleeced. I just don't like it when this type of thing is given the stamp of legitimacy by ET.

I'm sure you're well aware that Baron doesn't give a flying fuck what I think, especially in light of the fact that you're a paying customer. You will be given free rein so carry on and good luck to you.

At the time of backtest 90% was the rate both eSignal and TradeStation were giving back.

Well since this post was started its down to 85.5% win rate (march was a neutral month). We'll see what happens in April.

We could change the title of this thread to 'highly profitable setup' but then I'm sure others would still complain.

Yet I flip open futures magazine and there are adds saying "Join our futures trading service. You will turn $2,000 in to $10,000 in one week"

So you are saying that your claims of '90% profitable setup on the YM' means that your system shows 90% profitability in BACKTESTING???

See, that's snake oil sales. I know you can't admit this publicly but you damn well know it. You know damn well that no one will be trading your system in real time and show 12 months or even 6 months of '90% profitable trades'. If you could trade with 90% positive expectancy for an extended period of time you would own all the assets on the planet within xx years, well within your lifetime. That's simple math, CS. Don't tell your 'clients' to do a search on that here.

I could launch into a length explanation of what every system developer on here knows re: backtesting, but I'm not going to bother.

Re: futures magazine.. as I said, there are lots of snake oil salesmen out there. Saying that you have a system that generates 90% winners and then saying 'Of course, that's in backtesting' is exactly the same as saying "turn $2,000 in to $10,000 in one week". EXACTLY THE SAME. Futures magazine is the place for this, IMO. I just wish that this kind of thing could be kept off of ET. This is a pie-in-the-sky wish as those who run the place are not here to cater to me, they are here to run a business, just like futures magazine.

No need to continue this, CS. As I have said 3 times, you are free to do what you want here. My initial post was for Baron, not you. I am actually surprised that the mods have let me go on as long as they have, an I still think these posts will be gone by tomorrow.

I just feel badly for people who don't understand what they are buying into. But they are sheep and it is your job to fleece them.
 
You misunderstood Nik. Before I trade anything with cash, of COURSE i back test it first. You'd be a fool not too. I've been trading this setup in its own seperate cash account for 6 months now. That acct is up quite nicely.It's preformed better then the back test results when I compare them nightly (due to non-tick by tick fills on BT).
Thats all I'm concerned with. Positive forward testing. Now im sure there are guys out there who just back test setups all day long and never put one dollar behind it but that. Also backtest results can be edited. I also take every trade in our track record in cash (give or take a few missed calls due to phone calls or bathroom breaks).

I'm sure this post will live on. The only thing I know for sure is that supergrass's account will be removed by tomorrow (aka trader28, tradertime, nmeds). Welp, gotta get some sleep. Have a good trading day tomorrow.

Holy grial? Probably not but I'll keep taking money with it for as long as I can.
