9.5 Million Uninsured People Covered Under Obamacare

The doc told me to limit the high impact activities on my knees if I wanted to stay out of the operating room.

Spent too much time on your hands and knees hey? The reason your knees are so bad is the same reason the Doctor told you your colon was so stretched out.

Obama 50% - Romney 47%

That's the Pew poll on November 4, 2012

The analysis in this report is based on telephone interviews conducted October 31-November 3, 2012, among a national sample of 3,815 adults.

Actual Results

Obama - 51.1% Romney - 47.2%

Tell us more Mr. Math :D

Do you understand anything about Sampling Theory? Obviously the answer is no ....

Just because you can fit an end result to a poll does not justify the sample size. Go gt a GED then start junior college.

Better yet, go to one of the bathhouses in SF.

Won't work, it will sink the red states insurance pools

And WHY would you cite data 6 years old? Further, I want health care that does not penalize healthy people. I don't care about your Red and Blue crap. People that CHOOSE to jeopardize their own health should pay a surcharge. Comprehendo?

I think you and I could hammer out a comprise but then we'd be in a group of two. I'm jealous of you running. The doc told me to limit the high impact activities on my knees if I wanted to stay out of the operating room.

Did you used to run?

I've been running 38 years now. Other than Oct. 2012 when I had to lay off for 4 months due to meniscus strain (my own diagnosis) I've not had issues.

What about biking? You can get a good aerobic workout that way.

Maybe we could come up with something truly fair and applicable to EVERYONE. Once insurance companies know they have to take everyone then there's no reason IMO that they couldn't offer a multitude of plans, as was the case in the past. Did you ever use ehealthinsurance.com? The number of plans in the past was almost overwhelming from $250 annual deductibles to $5K for a single person (and double those amounts for couples). Just as corporations and smaller companies offer incentives for employees to shape up and become more fit I suspect there's a way to incorporate something into a national plan. Numbers don't lie .. so at the end of the year if a doctor submits data to show a patient has lost weight and become more fit then said patient gets a lower premium in the upcoming year and some return of premium for the year just completed. There's a million ways one could improve what is out there now.

DHOHHI appears to be operating under the calories in calories out model. It doesn't stand up very well at all except in the most extreme scenarios. The type of calories consumed is much more important for people living in perpetual food surplus conditions. Persons eating in excess of their daily caloric needs, but low carbohydrate/high fat, will excrete a great number of calories in the form of ketones, and not add to their fat mass. Persons eating at caloric need but high carbohydrate will "fuel partition" to fat storage and suffer an eventual reduction to their energy level. As Taubes points out in his excellent books, we don't get fatter because we're so hungry, we're so hungry because we're getting fatter.

But people CHOOSE to eat what they do. And I'm not suggesting this is a high poverty problem. Recently I was in Pinehurst, NC and after a funeral for a friend's Mom their family wanted to go to a restaurant. No one lived locally so we ended up at an Outback Steakhouse. Holy crap!! You'd have thought it was a Shoney's all you can eat place. Fat and obese people shoving those 'onion loaves' in their mouths. And these certainly appeared to be middle class people. And no matter where you go .. the mall, airport, restaurants, ..... the size of people anymore is scary. I don't know how some people can look at themselves in the mirror. I feel sorry for a lot of them ... but they choose to be that way (there may be an occasional person who has some defect that causes weight issues but most are due to diet and (lack of) exercise). And fitness centers are out there .. they advertise. Places like Groupon constantly have 'specials' that are fitness oriented. Plenty of dieticians and weight counselors. Most people have no excuse IMO.

God you're stupid max. Zero imagination or wit and you're a liar to boot.

A few years ago I was working in Kannapolis NC. It was gross to go out and eat and watch the huge people gorge themselves. I went to a buffet often that was close because they had a good selection of vegetables and non fried meat. I remember seeing a huge man sitting across from me with enough food in front of him to feed at least four people and this was before he went for desserts. I was thinking if he keels over with a heart attack I'm not giving mouth to mouth. I had to stop eating there just because of the gross people and their eating habits.

About 9.5 million Americans who were previously uninsured have gotten health coverage under Obamacare, according to a new analysis.

The Los Angeles Times reported the number, which combines data from an unpublished study by RAND Corp. with other publicly available figures. It's one of the most comprehensive efforts yet to asses the law's impact on the uninsured as open enrollment comes to a close.

The numbers break down like this:
6 million people have enrolled in private coverage through Healthcare.gov and its state counterparts. The Times estimated that about one-third of them -- or about 2 million -- were uninsured, based in part on new numbers from RAND.
4.5 million previously uninsured people have signed up for Medicaid since the law launched in October, according to RAND.
3 million young adults age 26 and younger have gotten covered through their parents' insurance plan, as the law allows.
RAND also estimated that about 9 million people have signed up for coverage directly through their insurer, though most of those people were already insured. RAND has surveyed 3,300 adults, ages 18 to 64, nationally. It estimated that the uninsured rate for that population has fallen from 20.9 percent to 16.6 percent.

The excuse is that the common wisdom on "what makes us fat" has taken a wrong turn for about 40 years. Fat people continue to gorge because, thanks to insulin and fuel partitioning, their tissues (besides adipose) are starving. Once this process begins it is very difficult (see also: diets, success rates) to reverse. But if one is willing to choose to cut carbs and add more protein but especially more fat to their diet, they can begin reducing insulin induced gorging. But that costs more, and it's less convenient--you gotta spend more time in the kitchen.

Your exercise to lose weight assertion is a non-starter. It simply increases your appetite, besides, it doesn't burn nearly enough calories anyway, especially as you become adapted to it. Food composition is king.
