802.11b router questions

I have a 2 year old d-link wireless cable router, its a B level. Is it worth it to upgrade to a g based router for security purposes?

If my router is a g but my pc card is a b, does it even help to have the faster g router? Does the speed even matter for cable since the b router can handle speed s higher than cable?

Are these cheap 40 $ units of any value for security? I like the wireless so I can keep a notebook downstairs and have an interneT connection.

it seems that most of the routers offer similar security capabilities

no, your speed will stay b. which is probably just fine for your usage
