Smartmatic vows to finish what Dominion case started
Another voting systems company that is in litigation with Fox News on Tuesday promised to finish what Dominion started.
Smartmatic in February 2021 filed a $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit against the conservative cable news channel, and a spokesman for the company promised to expose wrongdoing in connection with false claims about election fraud in 2020.
Fox News on Tuesday settled an defamation lawsuit with Dominion for $787.5 million, but the network will not have to issue an on-air apology for spreading falsehoods over election fraud in 2020 under terms of its settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, CNN’s Oliver Darcy reports.
Smartmatic in a statement signaled plans to go further than Dominion.
“Dominion’s litigation exposed some of the misconduct and damage caused by Fox’s disinformation campaign,” a Smartmatic spokesman said in a statement obtained by The New York Times. “Smartmatic will expose the rest.”

But Fox News is only the beginning, said Dominion's lead counsel Justin Nelson to a CNN panel on Tuesday: they are going to go after several other people who promoted the same false claims and damaged their reputation.
"This is one of seven lawsuits. This one settled today. There are six left. And I think it sends a message to the other six lawsuits that accountability is coming as well. It's not over. We have lawsuits against Newsmax, against One America News, against Sidney Powell, against Rudolph Giuliani and Mike Lindell and MyPillow and Patrick Byrne. And many of them are still propagating these lies about the election, and they are still having an effect."
"So we intend to hold people accountable because, as we have said, the truth really does matter and if you are lying, that has consequences," Nelson added. "It had a consequence for Dominion in the ... grievous blow to the reputation that it had over the past couple of years and the threats the death threats that the company really continues to receive, and it had a consequence for Fox. Today they paid nearly three quarters of a billion dollars."

Fox could have tried to make it a condition of the settlement to include individuals with not much money like Powell and Giuliani.Dominion might have accepted since they know they will not get much money from them.I wonder if they tried

Outrageous. I am so glad they lost that money. Here's to another 800,000,000 loss in their next lawsuit.

In the next lawsuit, Fox News will not get away with merely a financial settlement. Smartmatic will demand an apology and full retraction from Fox News and their gallery of clowns.
