80 % fail at trend trading

Quote from oilfxpro:

So why do people write books about trend trading , sell courses on technical analysis and trend trading , and set up funds which lose money on trend trading?Do they do it for love or to make money from mugs? And why do 95 % lose despite this superb technical analysis and trending trading holy grails?

Most fail because TA is just a tool. Tool is not enough to make a master. It is so obvious and simple, but most don't like to hear it, cause they consciously or unconsciously hope there's a way to get all for nothing without much efforts.

Fact of life: those 95% are lazy crowd. :)

Quote from NoDoji:

0% of trends fail. If there's a trend, that means there's a trend. 100% of trends...trend!

Since no trader can identify a trend until price does the thing that defines a trend (higher lows/higher highs or lower highs/lower lows), once it's identified, it's a...TREND!

However, a very large percentage (probably at least 80%) of trends reverse and 100% of trends end.

Many patterns that are used as a signal for a potential trend fail. Breaks out of consolidation, breaks to new highs/lows, these patterns often fail to produce a definable trend. Who cares, though? Just trade the signal and apply the money management rules that produced consistent profitability when you developed your trading plan.

Sometimes prices move without forming lower highs , or higher lows , either leaving the trend trader without an entry , because the move was in a straight line or making a move and reversing ( and also catching the trader in a false break).Price fluctuations patterns are repeatable in hindsight t/a trading education.:p

Quote from trader198:

most people do not know what a trend is

most people do not know to identify a trend: the trend start, various consolidation/pullback phases, late stages, trend ending

plus they do not know how to ride a trend

trend does exist, but as efficient as it becomes, trend becomes fewer and fewer

Some body else said trends only exist with price action , so trend does not exist in foresight , or it exists with same set ups sometimes it materialises but on other times it fizzles out .In hindsight you can see a trend!

Quote from cornixforex:

NoD already pointed it out: 100% trends succeed. You first need to understand the price action and only ask questions, not ramble about it.

Another clown .....100 % of trends succeed in hindsight , backs it up with non price action philosophy and non related comments!

Quote from bone:

I find it fascinating that anyone would proclaim themselves a superior trend trader using 15 minute and 30 minute interval data on charts that go back maybe a couple weeks at most.

I suppose that a trend is in the eye of the beholder. Some person's macro perspective is another person's micro it would appear ...

So one can see a trend that does not exist , but another can not see a trend if it exists. So it is some kind of an illusion or some magic .....which worked with Mr Turtle in the past , then it stops working and lost Mr Turtle millions.

Wrong. 100% of the trends are successful. What you believe are "failed trends" never was a trend in reality. Look for flaws in your analysis.

And while you are not a consistently profitable trader, you better shut your mouth, sit and listen with attention and gratitude to people who know what they talk about. Be happy someone who knows what trading is about bothers to talk to you at all. That's what I did a few years ago when was just learning to trade.
