You're delisuional if you think that the vast majority of this country's IRAs, 401Ks, college funds, etc. is not invested in some form of long positions in the stock market.

Almost all of those accounts are unable to invest in alternative investments like gold or instruments which short the market (whether directly via futures or options, or indirectly via Rydex and Profunds funds).
