The system is too complicated now, much more complicated than 200 years ago. Democracy only works when every participant is able to make a sound decision.
For a complicated situation like this, truth is always discovered by a handful few, but stupid mobs will always vote another way.
700B bail out or no bail out, even "experts" can't tell whether it is going to work or not, how will voting help in any way? Basically by voting, you let stupid majority decide the fate.
US education system is also broken, that's anther sad part. I believe most people on ET are smart enough to make decisions, but there are way lot more in real life that are just too stupid to understand this situation.
