$700 Billion For New RTC? What If....

They might have told us "only $700B", because we can imagine how we might handle it over time.

What if it's really 10 TIMES THAT?

Wouldn't be a first, you know, for the Gummint to give us an overly optimistic lowball number about something negative (like they always do about the REAL inflation rate)...

Look at it this way,

If it's ten times of $700b, we're screwed.

If the government does nothing, we're screwed.

So either way, we're screwed.

I hope that brings you some comfort!

Is this the same 'Gummint' that told us the Iraq war was supposed to pay for itself? Now the Iraqi treasury is overflowing and Uncle Sam is looking for loose change in the couch.

They haven't been able to correctly estimate the cost of anything. You can probably add a zero to the total if you want to get real. They arent buying assets, they're buying toxic paper.

I love the people who are saying the 'gummint' might actually make money off this deal and it will be good for tax payers. Those people should be steralized before they decide to breed, for the good of society.

The ONLY comfort I have about America's future is that being a Boomer, and though I expect to lose 90% of my assets to taxes inflation and currency debasement, the collapse will likely come at the end of my life and I won't have to suffer too long beyond that.

i would rather the gov. stay out and let the market do its thing. remember your money at the brkerage is insured up to 250k. so whats the problem ? the market was only down to 10400. ?

the market's arteries are clogged and if left alone the market will have a heart attack and die severely. that's the gist of it I think.
