Didn't you know that Zeus is the cause of lightening?

Well....we see lightening all the time, so he probably exists right?

I really don't have the time to research all of greek mythology for examples of real life correlations... but here is some interesting stuff.

The city of Troy, for example, you know....where the Trojan horse thing came from?

Well, it was discovered, and artifacts dug up.

This city was described in greek mythology, and I believe the Illiad (greek book of mythology) was actually used to locate it using geographic features described in the book.

As for zeus specifically, greek mythology speaks of Zeus often. Temples were built for him. People worshiped him. Stories of visits by Zeus exist. He was quite the ladies man

But Zeus left no artifacts for us to study, no writings, etc. Similar to jesus.

Define exist.

Do I believe that the matter which my body is composed of continues to exist after my death. Yes. I think this is provable, therefore I believe this.

Do I believe that I continue to exist in some SENTIENT form after death?
My default position is always non-belief. Without evidence of this, I have to say no.
There is also counter evidence.
Brain waves STOP after a person dies.

One of the definitions of assumption, which I think applies here the best is:
"Something taken for granted or accepted as true without proof"

I cannot assume that I continue to "exist" after death, since there is no proof.

the ONLY idea of "after life" with ANY evidence at all is before birth. that is the closest comparison there is. i think death is exactly like before birth. therefore, we all already know what death is like. how do you know? ask yourself what things were like 2,000 years ago--that is death.

however, i am not claiming this IS definitely 100% what death is. obviously i do not KNOW FOR SURE. but it is my best guess and i'm open to anything.

I'm not sure why I'm staying in this thread since you guys are so arrogant and demeaning. The Zeus example is obviously different since it does not show anything supernatural. Obviously, if your examples show something that can be done through human effort such as simple man-made artifacts (which I admit disputes my Mormonism example), then the example is useless.

This, however, is not the claim with theism. I have clearly shown corroboration between the Genesis account of the creation and archaeological and astronomical evidence and the Genesis account of the Flood and anthropological and archaeological evidence. These would have been supernatural events that cannot be accomplished by a human being.

I'm done talking about this juvenile Zeus example. Some of the other guys on the board thrash and attack you, but I have not resorted to that and so I would appreciate the same.

Many competent non-Christian scientific researchers believe that a study of near death experiences shows the potentiality for life after death. Again, nothing is as clear cut as you guys make it out to be even in scientific circles.

the near death experiences are a (BIG) load of crap.

1-the person may be on a bunch of drugs in the hospital.

2-if the person is coming close to dying, the body (including the brain) is probably not workin right, so of course the person may experience weird things.

Sorry, I forgot: everything that does not agree with your viewpoint is a "(BIG) load of crap".

Actually, many near death experiences are unexplainable to many secular researchers, that are less knowledgeable in brain research and human physiology than yourself of course, because 1) in many cases the brain is COMPLETELY flatlined and by definition has no activity and 2) the returning individual describes and see things that could not have been known by normal human means.

But just forget I said anything since you've already got it all figured out.

What I'm trying to get a grip on is how these birds that either have all the answers or all the "questions" can possibly just pass up an easy 1/4 mil. GG could maybe send them the PBS DVD, which surely would win the money. After all this is ET where anyone would like to invest or trade $19.95 into $250,000 on one trade. Others could dazzle them with their eloquence or logic and win the challenge. Think about it opportunity knocks for them.

what do you think it's going to be like as you die? unless it's an instant death, don't you think it'll be a weird experience? i'm talking as your heart stops beating or whatever. you going to tell me there may not be natural reasons for this "near death experience" stuff??

as for your points 1 & 2, i want a non-biased scientest there documenting those claims, not some church going doctor. i don't know where you got that stuff from... "Unsolved Mysteries" maybe??
