What do you mean "The devil does not exist?" The devil exists just as much as your soul, feelings, Timon and Pumbaa, quantum physics, the English language, time, eternity, infinity, causality, or elitetrader.com exist. Sure you can't prove their existence to a newborn. For a baby, all that exists is the nipple that feeds it and the hand that touches it, but most of us develop to a stage where we can grasp more abstract concepts. You could argue that they don't "exist" in the most literal sense of the word, but what good would that be? They are still essential concepts of our world.

Your TV set exists as an object with mass, but what you are really interested in is the information it displays, which has no mass. Even the photons that carry the information to your TV set have no mass.
An active brain is an active brain. The entirety of its thought processes forms a mind, not a soul. When you die, your mind dies, but your soul lives on. At least that's what some hope.
I think we basically agree. Of course the devil exists only as a thought, just like physics only exists as a thought. Of course you can write about these ideas, you can observe their manifestations in "real" things, but the ideas themselves don't have mass, and if your definition of existence is mass, then they don't exist.
so gg does this mean that electronic trading does not exist? There is no real mass to the trades. There is no physical money or physical commodity trading physical hands (emini s&p). So is it just a illusion made up in our heads. Or how about radio waves. I have never seen one but I have seen the effects (On the radio). Just because something is not in your eyesight does not mean it does not exist. I'm not trying to slam anyone. Just trying to stick up for the traders here with a christian mindset. Remmeber that even your faith in your self (gg) is still an illusion then. You think you will become rich (which may be true). But, you still have not. But, you claim to have faith in the idea that you will someday. Well, remeber that it's your faith in something that no one yet can see, touch or feel. And yet you still believe that you will. So same with us christians. Maybe we are wrong, but we have faith in the idea we are right.

i can see the results of electricity, etc. in the real world. we can do experiments to know what it is about. satan, the devil, etc. is nothing but man made CRAP equal to greek gods, like zeus, etc.I think we basically agree. I've seen very little evidence of the devil in this world but I have seen a lot of evidence of the "Just World Theory".
In the "Education Of A Speculator", Victor Neiderhoffer talks of traders who had lost it all because they were hoodooed out of their money. He suggested that there might exist an evil entity/man/ devil who could have power over and destroy another person financially.
Well Victor really didn't understand how the hoodoo really works so I proceeded to explain it to him in an email that I wrote entitled "The Hoodoo Man". He subsequently published this true story in his next book, "Practical speculation".
A real hoodoo man/woman doesn't make deals with the devil nor does he/she get involved in crooked dealing at work or in their personal lives.
Furthermore, I believe that the "Just World Theory" only applies and protects those indivuduals who always practice the rule of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". The sinister individual who plots to destroy such a person is never successful and is often doomed.

That might be true if you look at it that way, like if someone has a mole that's shaped like 666 he is evil. This kind of crap is what people whose only knowledge of religion is derived from pagan movies think it is all about.
Regarding electricity, the phenomena you observe are caused by certain properties of the universe. We might call them "electricity", but the electrons and ions jump through the air creating a lightning bolt because this is how the world is, not because Maxwell has written down symbols on a piece of paper, because he has found a way to communicate certain properties of the universe.
If we now hate the French, because they were right about the fact that Iraq had now WMD, then this behavior is evidence of the devil. We don't hate them because someone draws a picture of a red guy with a tail and horns, but because that is the way humans are programmed to react, in other words, the way the world is. Calling this aspect of human behavior satan or devil is equivalent to calling the phenomena that have to do with the bipolar charge found in subatomic particles electricity.
