Man, that's just damned awful. I hate those companies.
MES is "Micro ES". FYI. Need to remember the terminology, never know when it will matter in an interview.

What's stupid is I took no excessive risk. I was not about to blow up.
They could simply close the position by themselves but they prefer to earn combine fees.

On a weekly basis (Sunday or Monday before you start trading) go to a website like for example: https://www.fxstreet.com/economic-calendar
Make sure you know everything going on that week. Important news events, holidays, time changes, ... and write it down on a piece of paper which you place in front of your keyboard.
You can also add other important information that you might need during your trading week. That way you will never miss/forget a thing or get stuck in a position because of an early close or stuck in a wild swing because of a news event.
