$5k e-mini journal

Quote from highlifejoker:

Good idea trading without charts. Charts are the dumbest of the dumb trading ideas, not analyst idea, but trading ideas. Do you drive looking in the rearview mirror? That is what trading with charts is like. Ya can't trade a chart, only see what you could have traded, the sooner this is realized the sooner the trader will break into profits.

Good luck, you are on the right track.

This is the most retarded thing I've ever heard. You're confusing charts with indicators (eg. "rearview mirror"). There are traders who use charts to spot support/resistance and, more importantly, trend reversals. Unless you have a photographic memory, such a feat would be nearly impossible with DOM alone.

Walter..I blew my account also. I have been on the sim and my advice to you is take a few days off. Get on a sim and play the fib levels. If you have access to charts look how the market played every level intra day. Honestly getting on a sim has really helped me figure out my strategy for how i should be trading the markets. You have a little over 2K. I believe its not the amount of capital you have but how you use it. ( atleast for us) You can have 10k and lose it all yet some traders can start with 1k and make 10k. Lastly believe in yourself. No one else on this forum or in life will believe in you more than yourself. Keep a positive attitude and trade with purpose.
I beg to differ. Undercapitalization is one of the main reasons why traders fail. The rationale is simple: Being undercapitalized means you risk trading with scared money. This puts too much psychological strain on most traders and that will ultimately have an adverse effect on their bottom line.

absolutely true. Sorry to say but with 5k I cannot think of any e-mini you could trade unless you have money to play with.
Leverage and this fast money thinking is just bringing most down to their knees. With such small account size I would only trade options on SPY,QQQQ and other liquid ETFs as at least one thing to hold onto is that the full risk is clear on the table whenever you enter unlike it is with futures or stocks.
