Why is it being governed so poorly that....

A new poll reveals that 53% of California residents are considering leaving the Golden State because of the high cost of living.
The “Trust Barometer” poll, by Edelman Intelligence, was conducted January 4-20 among 1,500 California residents, with a margin of error of 2.5%. A special oversample of 400 tech workers in the San Francisco Bay Area was also conducted, with a margin of error of 4.8%.

The results are sobering. Nearly two-thirds, 62%, of respondents said they believed the best days of California were in the past.

I really wish we could make California great once more. (not saying Trump could do it. )

We need to find room for everyone before we bring in new people.
We need to fix transportation.
We need to improve schools
We need to lower taxes a boat load... especially after Ryan and traitors stole so much from us.

Wrap up the carpet and hit the road. You tried Fl and you saw what a shit hole swamp it is, maybe try the AZ or NV Desert, the heat starting in May and going thru Sept only Max’s out at a balmy 110.. I have decided to keep track of the issues facing California in one place.
The articles below speaks about taxes' potential for driving people away. The article was written last summer. Let me confirm its concerns.

I just did my taxes... and while I am not going to talk about my exact circumstances...

I will explain what I experienced. Turbo tax software shows you the deductions you earned... and then it shows the amount disallowed because of the $10,000 cap.

So... If you have a normal to high mortgage (for CA) and two six figure incomes which is pretty necessary to live in some suburbs in CA... you probably just saw about 15 to 30 grand worth of deductions snatched away by Republicans. California has up to 13 percent income tax rates on six figure earners and high real estate prices (resulting in larger home loan deductions.)

A loss of deductions of that size would translate to I calculate... $5000 to $10000 more being paid to the IRS. Which is a lot of after tax, after mortgage and after paying for kids of your disposable income. (they were not happy with just stealing money from us for Obamacare... The republicans had to do if for the cronies as well.)

I can't even begin to say... how gross it is to take income away and pretend it was necessary to give to Corporations... when we have trillion dollar deficits anyway.

The tax system is just so gross. I don't understand why anyone falls for the illusion of budget concerns driving tax policy.

In our runaway spending situation income taxes and working individuals and families is political punishment and power theft. They keep us working rather that accumulating money to run against their puppets.

Many Californians complain about high taxes, and some vote with their feet, moving to no tax states like Nevada, Texas, Washington or Florida. A recent report says that dozens of millionaires fled California after the 2012 tax increase. The report quotes a study noting that 138 high income Californians left the state. That may sound draining, although the researcher said that, “We estimate that California lost 0.04 percent of its top earner population over the two years following the tax change.” That's a tiny number, and California's high taxes have always motivated some moves. California'sProposition 55 extended until 2030 the “temporary” 13.3% tax rate on California’s high-income earners, the highest tax rate in the nation.It hits only 1.5% of Californians, those with a single income filing of at least $263,000, or joint income of $526,000. But the new federal tax law that limits state and local tax deductions to $10,000 seems likely to dramatically change taxpayer attitudes, but will it also change their behavior? If you are writing a several hundred thousand dollar check to California and cannot deduct it on your federal taxes, won't it smart that much more?

The state law workarounds include a charitable deduction plan, but the IRS will surely try to shut it down. It should be no surprise that state taxes are a big reason for moves. Why else would there be such a high probability that Californians become residents of no-tax states like Texas? TheIRS reported that between 2013 and 2014, over 250,000 California residents moved away between 2013 and 2014. More than 10% went to Texas alone.





California's toughFranchise Tax Board (FTB) polices the line between residents and non-residents, and does so rigorously. Like other high tax states, California is likely to probe how and when you stopped being a resident. For that reason, even if you think your facts are not controversial, be careful. A California resident is anyone in the state for other than a temporary or transitory purpose. It also includes anyone domiciled in California who is outside the state for a temporary or transitory purpose. The burden is onyouto show that you are not a Californian.

I am not leaving anytime soon... but I suspect... I will have to go somewhere when i retire unless I start making 7 figures for the next 10 years.

To me -- it is a sin that they have made living here so expensive for productive people.

I noticed Tony Robbins is in Florida... at least it seems that way on my Youtube feed. He used to live in the Del Mar Castle. He worked in the same building where I rented and office. I saw him or his wife and then his girlfriend in the building pretty frequently. He employed a bunch of people I wonder if they had to move?

I just read this and I sound like a stalker.

His girlfriend at the time... Sage was friends with a guy who worked in my office... (actually the guy's girlfriend) If I recall Sage was in our office once or twice.I

As far as Tony goes... I said hello to him as you would anyone in an elevator... But he would have to walk by my office to get to his so I saw him walk by a lot.

I also personally feel the pain when I pay my taxes to local, city state and federal.
So whether its 53 or 35 or 70.. its too much. Its just not right. If you don't pay it, you might not feel the injustice... its sort of visceral thing.

The govt is hitting you for 10 percent at the store. They you pay property taxes. Then they hit you for cars and your old boat... and schools ask you for more money... Then crazy income taxes... when is the greedy govt going to stop. We have a right to live and accumulate something, if we work.. Then health care... these greedy fuckers... then if you do manage to save something... the colleges in collusion with college loans (cronies) ... try to take every spare cent from you while giving the school for free to someone else.

This is not an accident. They are taxing you into submission.

There was a trading book that said that the peasants would rise up against the king when the king started taking more than 20 percent of what they produced or earned.... I think the book was by Grant Noble...

Tony was smart - he saw how much money he was leaving on the table staying in sunny SOCAL.
I was paying so much in goddamn taxes and my work can be done from (almost) anywhere. Why work from Jan to June for the privilege of living in LA?
Fuck that.
Was a great run there. Lots of good happened. I’ll always cherish my time. But will never live there again.
