500k with 50% return

Quote from riskarb:

Surfer -- None of the trading in your journal implies any [caution: buzzword] informational advantage. It's not suprising when looking at some of the trades; long IBM/short Yen, GOOG 200 share-shorts, FX and crude outrights... Considering the fact that you don't use a PB; no access to color[information], order flow or haircut; how do you propose achieving success not seen in your journal? After all, you essentially trade retail.

He is retail. We established that in his appropriately named trend "delusions" journal.

And speaking of delusions, you ask how he could achieve that success, well I am sorry but that information is for accredited investors and qualified potential clients for his fantasy fund. You know, the one with no phone no office space, and no fund name...... :D :D

Weird to hear it from guy who have posted over 2700 comments here. I guess u don`t know nothing about trading ... only bubbling day after day.

it's not weird at all tho to hear arseholes like u that after just registerin' post idiotic crap like 50% a yr on $½mln is lame. u are an ignorant idiot.

If you had 500k to invest, what would be the best way to grow that consistently with a 50% compounding annual return over a 5 year period?

Thanks for the advice.

Assuming you decided to trade.

Compounding is a good idea but hard, and youll end up making bets that are like 75K per trade (im assuming 2%) when you are in year 5.

Instead maybe aim to make 250K in year one and 750K every
year after. Which will make the same end amount overall.

ie be conservative in year 1, and more aggressive in year 2
when you have some profits. Then you can keep it consistent
and make constant bet sizes for the last four years.

Unless you have the holy grail, you are going to have to take on some risk.

Find a way to make 10% a year then apply 5-1 leverage to it. If it goes bad on you the whole wad is gone.

I can`t talk about some good trades, there are reasons.

Today was very boring day. You can end these with pointless $500 or one to three trades can make it all. I had 2 good trades, others were small losses or profits.
1) Took 5K RIMM long 9:57AM - 9:59AM avg 79.58
all was sold to 10:30
avg out 80.04
Profit 2,3K minus commissions
2) WYE long 8,1K 14:54-14:55 avg 46.54
all was sold to 15:02
avg out 47.16
Profit about 5K minus commissions

Most of you can check the reasons why i bought RIMM and WYE but in reality it aint so simple to catch profits.

2 trades made my day, which was very boring but ended very well. Maybe tomorrow is busy and it results with $200.

I would rather not give it. I don't really want people trying to duplicate me.

So you have a domain that you don't want traffic going to because they might duplicate your business? Hmmmm...

yeah, utter bs. i cannot comprehend for the life of me why people fabricate success fairy tales to seek appreciation in an anonymous board; bugs me.

Also what is some good software for intraday back testing strategies to test the theory on?

I prefer to be in and out of the market. Buy and holding for years does not appeal to me.
:D

I see alot of those "turn 1,000 into 1,000,000 in 30 days" posts and figure this would be a little more to work with.

Thanks for the advice.

Take it all to vegas and put it all on RED!!

You got better odds of making 100% that way than some of the bullshit posted on here!! ROTFLMAO!!! :D

I have a good friend who makes more than that:

GOOG-2000 shares on the IPO-out at the top

APPL-3000 shares when it first started up-pre split-out at 75+/-

HANS-4000 shares last July at 40-out at 185

NTRI-several thousand over the last 6 months-out now

Big follower of IBD and O'Neill....

Looks for the best of the best....cup and handle buy point...holds till it breaks momentum...

This ain't brain surgery boys

Take $500,000 with margin=$1,000,000 buying power....

10,000 shares of GM at $20 and out at $32 gives you $120,000 for God's sake......

Too many people over complicate this business....
