$500 for buying trading books over 3 to 6 years at $30 to $50 a book is about right... to create a knowledgeable trading library...

Hi,
this probably sounds ridiculous to most of you, but if anyhow possible, I'd like to start "trading" with 500$.
Quote from trend_guy:
you can start with any amount... the problem is... most brokers have an account minimum... like $2000 or $3000. I think the best way to start and learn is... try to find 3 or 4 friends and start a small investment club, you will learn a ton.
Quote from condorll:
Why don't you just save your 500 bucks, go to the library, get a few books for free and study for a while.
Your wanting to trade with 500 bucks is a friggen joke!
Someone shut down this dumb thread PLEASE!

He's better off getting a lesson and losing $500 in the markets, as opposed to losing $10,000 or more.
I say go for it, but realize you can, and probably will lose the money with ease.
Once you understand there's a lot more to the markets than meets the eye, buy a couple of highly recommended books and start studying.
