I thought it was mostly high school and college kids.
Who the F has time to play video games in their mid 30’s and older? And why would you even want to?
 
Ok. I just have to brag here. As a proud dad. My son is playing in the Overwatch Contenders League. At age 14 he’s getting a salary and prize money.

For playing games.
 
A misleading headline. The number of GLOBAL e-sports viewers may exceed NFL viewers, but most of the world doesn't watch the NFL. They watch soccer, and for any major soccer match such as a World Cup game, they are probably 4 times as many viewers as the largest e-sports event.

(So much for America's capitalism and meritocracy.... coming from a guy who's grandfather advised him as a teen, "if you plan on eating regular, you'd better plan on working." IOW... "Don't expect anybody to give you anything. Make your own way in the world.") :(

Ok, I'm being a dick. Glad he's getting paid for doing something he enjoys, even if I "don't get it."

ok :)

without going into too much detail.... I actually tell people he plays for the NY Mets :) as the team is under the same umbrella... so as if a 14 yo kid is playing AAA baseball.. that sounds like a big deal :)

esport is a big deal now and growing double digits.
