Hi guys, great journal- I've been reading it for ages but only just got round to actually registering with ET :D

I trade oil daily using a system that seems to be working so far, (only 13 trades mind you- but with 12 winners) size is small too at £2 per point with an sb.

I've made 303 points (after the sb's 8 point spread) on the 13 trades which although not massive is better than a 303 point loss lol, as I get more confident I'll start upping the ante a little- going to £3 per point when I hit 500 and so on.

I'll try to post real time or as near as possible to it.

Keep up the good work guys, it's great reading.

Aloha mate im glad you like the journal.. :)

What style of trading do you use??

And over how many days/weeks has it taken tou yo earn those 300ticks??

Becuase if its under 1week then its extremely good mate, so you shouldnt be thinking its just mediocre.

current account :)

I spent £350 on a new jacket yesterday and I have now nearly ran out of the money I had from my casino win and some other stuff, so will have to start withdrawing money from my trading account next week.

Im probably gonna take out about 25k to live off for a while and build it back up again from about 50k.

Happy trading. Looking forward to us all beating up the market again next week!

Thats since Dec 22nd- so 2 1/2 weeks, I basically scalp the period right after the london session closes..I find it's a good reversal time.

Stop loss is 35 points, quite large if I'm only looking to make 25-50 points- but with the win rate as it stands the risk/reward is worth it.

I would be nearer to upping my stake but took a stupid short on AAPL and lost 75 points in an instant.

Here's my trading record.

Israeli Troops Push Into Gaza City in Day of Fierce Fighting

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/12/world/middleeast/12mideast.html?ref=world

1) Israel and Washington are trying to secure agreement on a deal that would mean a Hamas commitment to stop all rocket firing into Israel and an Egyptian commitment to block smuggling tunnels into Gaza to stop a resupply of Hamas. In return, Israel would agree to a cease-fire and the opening up of its crossings for goods and fuel into Gaza and the opening of the Rafah crossing into Egypt, with European Union supervision.

2) The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, whose Fatah faction opposes Hamas, was in Cairo pressing a call for a cease-fire, and he discussed with President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt the idea of international troops along the Gaza-Egypt border. Hamas representatives were also there, but the plan, also urged by the French, seemed to be losing steam.
- Egypt is unenthusiastic about the presence of foreign troops on its soil, while Hamas is unwilling to have the troops inside Gaza.

Nice record. You are absolutely right about the risk/reward point - it does not matter if you have a high risk/reward ratio if the the hit rate is so high, you still have an edge.

Ukraine has signed an agreement on the EU-led monitoring of Russian gas transit to Europe, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said Sunday.

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-01/11/content_10637873.htm

"We once again have shown our goodwill," she said.

Tymoshenko made the announcement in Kiev after talks with Mirek Topolanek, the prime minister of the Czech Republic, which holds the rotating EU presidency.

Topolenek shuttled between Kiev and Moscow on Saturday to mediate the deal. He finally persuaded Kiev after marathon talks to accept the deal, allowing EU representatives, energy officials from Russia and Ukraine to travel to gas pumping stations on Ukraine's eastern and western borders to track the gas flow.

"Nothing prevents Russia now from resuming gas supplies," Topolanek said after Ukrainian officials endorsed the deal.

"This agreement is very important for us," Topolanek said during the talks with Ukrainian officials. "We can't allow the entire energy system of Europe to collapse."

Ukraine initially rejected the monitoring pact, fearing it would give Russian officials too much access to Ukraine's gas transit system. However, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin insisted that a written deal be signed by the Ukrainian side and monitors be stationed at Ukraine's gas transit pipelines before Russia could resume gas supplies to European countries.

"Once the monitoring mechanism starts working, we will start gas supplies," Putin said after the talks with Topolanek. "But if we see them stealing it again and part of the gas is missing, we will again reduce supplies by that amount."

Euro Falls Versus Dollar, Yen on Speculation ECB Will Cut Rates

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aZEgwPhy05W8&refer=home

“A large portion of the euro’s demise has been predicated on the view that the ECB is falling behind the curve,” said Sue Trinh, a senior currency strategist at RBC Capital Markets in Sydney. “The market has priced in a 50 basis-point rate cut from the ECB.”

There's disappointment about the prospect of the recovery," said Ken Tower, market strategist at Quantitative Analysis Services. "Earnings are now more likely to disappoint, and across the board, [companies] are slashing estimates going forward."

The current market consensus is for the U.S. recession to bottom out sometime in the middle of this year -- but the latest signs from the labor market suggested to many that these forecasts might be too optimistic.

"I think that people are too optimistic about the recovery," Tower said. "A lot of bad news is already priced in but every time you get worse than expected news, the stock market will have to adjust."
