5.05 x 5.25 why?

why do some stocks have such big spreads sometimes? i just shorted this stock when it was 5.17 x 5.18....now it's 5.05 x 5.25.

Why do you find it unusual? When people don't want to buy or sell the stock badly enough, the spread can widen.
