Its the thought that counts.
What specific trades accomplished this? Amazing. If I could make 4 times the amount I have right now I would just quit and go live on the beach.
I know several people who seemed to have results like this paper trading and lost 100% of their money in under 2 months when they went to real money. It seems like if it were this easy the MIT/Harvard quant guys would be doing it.
My guess unfortunately is he went belly up.
I will play it straight here- I went from 200K to over a million and now am back to 100K after a few years- granted I spent a couple hundred thousand on living expenses, medical expenses, etc.
And I personally know three people, and heard from my broker of many more stories, people who pursued options strategies and ended up with as much as 1000% loss (as in, the guy went from 50K to 100K to owing almost a million dollars, broker should never have allowed this of course).
The reality is on a long term basis maybe 1 in 100 people can beat the market averages. At least that's how I feel. I need 900% gain to get back to my high water mark so I am trying to decide if I should even try or just give up.
