42% of Democrats are in favor of socialism

The product of 40+ years of leftist public education. It's an easy sell to the poorly educated and under/un-employed. They don't really care about taxes since most will never earn enough for the tax man to be a factor.
before you go too far, check out the FOX interviews they did before the Hillary vs Sanders debate, when they asked them if they know what socialism is? Most didn't know for sure what socialism is.
But then again, most on this site can't agree what it is.
Ask all Americans, "Are you in favor of socialist programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid?" and see what kind of numbers you get.

it aint that funny, If you belive like Hillary Clinton did when she was Secretary of State that the greatest threat to the United States of America was our debt, then you have to look at what is increasing that debt. And most agree the big three are Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
On the otherhand, if most Americans believed most of their tax dollars were going to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid they probably wouldn't be that upset.
My idea is let's first get the big three working right, then we can start on free education.
Shrug. The boomers are retiring and entering old age. We've seen this coming for decades. Well, the AMA didn't, apparently.
hey, that's progress, now we need another socialist program to keep the big three we haven't yet figured out how to pay for to fix the last three socialist problems we created.
Why not just tax everybody 100%, pay off the debt, and give everybody else what is left over...each according to their need?
Social Security and Medicare are not socialist programs. Had any of us never paid a tax into these programs but still received a benefit, that would be a socialist program. Fact is we all paid into the program. It's our money. Now the problem is that there isn't enough money to pay the beneficiaries. That is the result of congress embezzling all the money to pay for their wars and every other bullshit program. Had they not stolen all the money the fund would be just fine and we'd all be fat and happy.
