41 billionaires are now as rich as the poorest half of the world population

Charity is not effective help in the grand scheme of things. Charity is a result of tax optimization and the purchase of goodwill and reputation to further maximize personal profit. Very few billionaire individuals give out of their hearts in order to improve humanity. Look at Musk and his ego trip regarding the Thailand cave accident. PR stunt which turned into a disaster. When he was called out for the arrogant prick he is he called others pedophiles (for which he had to apologize later).

When people think that the wealth of a nation or the top "percenters" automatically trickles down, they forget that these people don't just randomly give away money to those in need... they give to charities and then the individual would have to fall into some "class" targeted by that charity to receive a benefit

Unless you are Chuck Feeney. Read about him the other day, gave it all away while alive and most of it was given anonymously.

Fantastic guy!!! Guys like Feeney are the ones we should constantly picture as role models and whom we should elevate and praise as heroes.

There are a lot of great people among the wealthy, even a much larger number of people in the bottom half of the world population (ranked by wealth) who have done truly remarkable things. Naming Elon Musk in this context is an embarrassing affront to all those people.

Elon has a cult following, that explains alot.

Re-usable rocket. After ~50 years of stagnation in space industry, if that ain't a progress - then i don't know what is.

Dice on perma block.

True. Probably adds very little to his gargantuan fed induced net worth. His net worth is tied to TLSA stock.

As you can see, one can't argue with blind disciples. They won't engage, only block and run away from critical discourse. Sure Musk has added value to progress. But not by far as much as suggested by most fanboys. How large is the entire world's space business and how important is it to our human progress on earth. Hardly any findings in space over the past 50 years have in any meaningful way contributed to solving pressing problems on earth. By the time Musk covers the globe with internet satellites most places on earth will already have connectivity. It's called urbanization, even in Africa. And by the way, he did not invent anything in this space, sat internet already existed before he explored the idea. So, basically, his missile and rocket progress and innovation almost exclusively benefitted some large corporations in reducing cost. Bravo Elon. Same with space travel, a new toy for the super rich. All the while Gates, Buffet, Feeney, and others work hard at alleviating and solving actual problems humanity faces. If this opinion deserves to get blocked by some then so be it.

Elon has a cult following, that explains alot.

Really? According to which metric? I can't disagree more. No matter how hard I think I find not one single metric that would make 41 individuals worth/valuable more than half the world population other than wealth. Not IQ, not education, not effort, not location, not anything.

-----------

Political Power.

Yes, it's surreal.
But it's about the days, when his friend made a video of rockets exploding & gave it to Elon.
And despite of other astronauts talking against his project & him still going for the final fourth launch (& being out of money),.
It's there where ones worth/value is determined.
How many of such individuals there is in those 50% ,- who knows. Until we know, the system keeps rewarding those who have proven their worth. Not a perfect system, but the best that we got.

Let's call it for what it is. Corruption/Bribing (called lobbyism), and manipulation. If the truth came out those 41 billionaires would be overrun in an instant by a tiny tiny fraction of half of the world population. If you call that political power then it swings both ways and cancels each other out over time. Talking specifically about the United States, not a banana republic dictatorship.
