I will urge President Trump to impose a 10% tax on remittances to Mexico if they do not stop these migrants crossing their borders. They can simply lock their borders. Station Federal police to ensure nobody breaches the fence and reinforce that fence while, we are it! Use teargas to disperse the migrants. Maybe, the extra tax on monies going to Mexico will motivate Mexico and their Socialist President Obrador to change course! If not, then further escalation is needed!
He wouldn't have done this if the China tariffs were going to fail.
Instead of catching those migrants,
simply catch those who employ migrants.
Migrants don't hide in US. They are working somewhere in US so as to earn $$$.
China just reported its PMI numbers. Estimated 49.9, Actual 49.4. Rare earth is important for a lot of business dealing with electronics. Have urged President Trump to ratchet up recycling of rare earth metals from used older cell phones, tvs, computers which we used to send to China who stripped it of its metals. Recycling earth metals technology has been developed to extract those metals at reasonable cost as well as not pollute the environment. The technology is there, the US just has to increase recycling. That could be a huge new business opportunity in the US!
$500 billion in exports to the US cannot be replaced by China very easily. The US can buy the same products made in China elsewhere! We just have to avoid buying Chinese goods every chance we get! Lots of alternative choices out there!
This is Trump and his current constituency in a nut shell. Whereas Mexico could do more to stop the influx of illegal immigrants coming from their border the actual problem is more south. If you look further, the major hubs of illegal immigrants were, or still are, Banana Republics who were destabilized by the US decades ago.
A TON of car manufacturers offshore production to Mexico. Of the car manufacturers that have returned, they have cited slow downs in sales of cars produced in their Mexican facilities, NOT the Stable Genius, as the reason for closing shop there. A characteristic of Trump is to take credit for things he hasn't done. This is yet another one of those instances.
Gems, machinery, vegetables, plastics, etc are still produced in Mexico and will be for a long time. You have to be asleep to think Tariff Man is doing anything for America w.r.t. Mexico. Turn off Hannity for a minute and read the analyst reports.
If he did want to resolve illegal immigration we'd take part of the wall money, ask Mexico to contribute to the fund as well, and rebuild El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and other illegal immigration hubs that we destabilized so they have no reason to flee anymore.

I would settle for keeping them out. Other countries defend their borders. Why shouldn't the US? They are cracking down on employers employing illegals and catching illegals by the hundreds. Much cheaper to just keep them out! Legal immigrants to the US wait 7-20 years and they go thru background checks, health checks and require a sponsor. These migrants can fall in the back of that line! The US accepts 1,000,000 legal immigrants every year and it is the most generous in the world. Follow the law like everyone else!
