24" Monitor suggestions...

According to BB's spec list, it has a TN panel.

OK, but it has much better viewing angles than the other TN panels on display. I use Dell 1905's and the viewing angle is similar to those. TN's are usually pretty bad.

I have the Soyo 24", and it's great. The edges are little bigger than the Dell's I used to own, but over all, it the design look decent. The picture quality is simply amazing. It also has build in speakers, don't know if it's a plus for any one else, but it is for me.

I saw a new 22" LG W2252 the other day on sale at my local Fry's for $289.00 ( retails for $319 ) and it really looked nice~!

Now only $269 at Fry's for their 4th of July sale, good till Tuesday.

Saw the same price at Circuit City too!

This is an old thread but I have twin Dell 2407FPW sitting in portrait mode and I can't live without full page display's anymore. Looking at pdf's, webpages and excel spreadsheets is so much better, plus with a decent video card, these are pretty damn sharp monitors.

a few extra hundred bucks is well worth it.

The Dell Business Outlet is currently selling the 2407WFP's for $499.00
I believe that is an S-PVA panel display too!
But no HDMI hook-up.

The 2408WFP's are on sale for $599 new right now, down from $679.

:)

Well I'm really getting serious about getting a new 24" for my trading rig. It looks like I can get either a Samsung 245BW or a Dell 24" (non ultra) at the local Costco. These are both TN panels.
The Dell is $379 and the Samsung is $399. Anyone think one here is better than the other? I know they are both TN panels but they both get good remarks.
It looks like there is also a Soyo deal still going on for around $299 (maybe less w/coupon). Anyone have these? The thing I like about both the dell and samsung is the 3 year warrenty and costco's excellent return policy... Ideally I'd like to stick around the $300 area (because I'm cheap, lol) but it's not a dealbreaker.
Please enlighten me :)

One rule of thumb with monitors -- don't go cheap. The comfort of your eyes is not worth the savings.

At the same time, compare oranges with organges.

The Samsung has a twisting stand. You are paying extra for that.

Agreed.
This is no place for short-cuts.

Why would anyone want to be "cheap" with a screen that they sit in front of for almost 7 hours a day - - - especially if you are getting into your 40's when there is a huge tendency to go farsighted.

Doesn't make sense to skimp on your eyesight, all for $100-$200.

i have both the dell and the samsung - i cant tel a difference in them at all - i use the dells as duals and the samsung as a signal. save the money.
