2024 Stock Picks

I added to PGR $176.44 and AJG, $236.44 now. Your stocks usually keep going year after year.
AJG is a good company, they'll have a good report, they always do. I wouldn't hold thru earnings though, sell the calls if you still have it. $13 for the July $240's; if you want to keep it that is. Or the $220's for $27

So IBM hit a 52 week high today.
My hunch is the old-school stalwarts won't be far behind as the whales want tech, but safe and proven tech. The ones that have not enjoyed the Nov Dec rally.
CSCO--- $50.26
ORCL--- $106.38
Oracle is up almost 9% in a week.
CSCO 4%

Yowsa. Wrong. Up big. 12% $650
That thing has nearly doubled since last may.
URI, I don’t understand why you doubted yourself on this cash machine? You have liked URI a long time. Stocks like AXON, AJG, AZO, ISRG, ORLY, THO, AMZN and CMG. They go on and on!

Point that out to Stoney.

Don't forget Lamb Weston at $70'ish, NVDA at $70ish, RACE $100ish, PWR at $34ish, PLTR at $7.80 as the 2023 AI play, STLD at $51ish... there's a few more, those are just off the top of my head.

And lets not forget the Covid bottom post. (Have Stoney update these with their current price. ) There's quite a few 4 baggers(+) there. Yeah it was a market low so lots of stocks went up, but I saw these as dividend paying fire sales, and I tried to get a diversified mix, that's why I added the sectors.

How many of the Mag 7 beat these? The only dog was the damn prison stock.

$X US Steel $5.50 (.75%) Steel
$M Macy's $6.30 (22.5%) Retail
$F Ford $5 (12.5%) Auto
$CLF Cleveland-Cliffs $4 (6%) Steel
$BA (Garbage stock!?) $112 after hours tonight on news .... https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-boeing-idUSKBN2143TR (6.3%) Aerospace
$EAT Brinker $8.50 (14.5%) Restaurant
$CTL Century-Link $10.86 (10%) Telecommunications
$IVZ Invesco $10 (14%) Finance
$PK Park Hotels $6 (26%) Hotels/Resorts
$CXW CoreCivic $11.82 (16.7%) Prisons

Catch a falling chainsaw.
Edit: $CXW might be the best imo, for now at least. Or $BA. Maybe Ford, I still think someone in tech will strike a deal of some kind with them. Macy's owns a lot of nice real-estate, just the footprints alone. Trump won't let US Steel go under, so that's an election play really. I don't think Biden will either tbh.
But who cares. Ancient history. What matters is the picks we find today.

I wonder if NFLX might possibly strike some kind of deal with TTWO before they release GTA-VI.

I've watched TTWO for nearly two years now. It trades in its own world, it seems to ignore the tide to a great extent. I told someone here that bought in at $147 not to sell, but they took $165. TTWO might be worth considering. I'm not saying NFLX is gonna make a deal, but that cc of theirs made it clear that they think on-line gaming is big, it's only getting bigger, and it's part of their plan going forward.

GTA is one of the best-selling gaming franchises of all time. And the world is chomping at the bit for GTA-VI. TTWO has a market cap of about $28B. Not cheap. NFLX is like $220B. Not sure if acquiring them outright would make sense, but I have a feeling TTWO at $165 is a good deal. And it will pull back to the $157 range if one's patient. Just a thought. As always, do your own DD.

Edit: As a funny aside.... NFLX's market cap increased today by nearly the exact amount it would take to buy TTWO. :wtf:

As the streaming wars continue to heat up, Netflix isn’t content just to battle over television and film; it’s expanding its battleground to include gaming. The company recently announced that it is soon adding several award-winning titles to its games library, which will be available exclusively for Netflix subscribers at no additional cost.

This strategic move signifies Netflix’s commitment to becoming a one-stop entertainment hub for its members. The addition of critically acclaimed games is set to enhance the value proposition, potentially enticing a broader audience who not just binge-watch their favorite series but are also avid gamers looking for quality gaming experiences.

The selection process for these titles is reported to have been rigorous, with Netflix aiming to offer games that not only have won awards but also provide diverse storytelling and gameplay experiences. The aim is to cater to different tastes among its subscriber base, from those who prefer narrative-driven adventures to others who relish competitive multiplayer modes.

While specific game names have yet to be released, insiders speculate that we can expect a mix of indie darlings and big-name studio projects spanning various genres. These new additions will join an already established roster of mobile games that Netflix has been quietly building up since its initial foray into the gaming market last year.

Hey NFLX... Just buy TTWO.

I think I'm going to dub today "The Netflix Top".
And I don't mean NFLX, they look good. I mean the rest of the market. Near term at least.
The "Netflix Top" was 4903. The subsequent high was 4931. 28 points off. Yesterday's close was 4906. "The Meta Top". What's left to take us higher? Not much.

Day to day, the VIX isn't really useful when one is looking for tells, but there are certain days, few and far between, when it is. I think today is one of those days. Watch the VIX today. If it takes out 15, we're probably at the top for now.

The VIX didn't break 15 Friday btw. The SPX high was 4975, and a solid affirmation for the bulls obviously. This week, we'll watch the volume.
