It resulted in the United States federal government pulling the last troops out of the South, and ending the Reconstruction Era. Through the Compromise, Republican Rutherford B. Hayes was awarded the White House over Democrat Samuel J. Tilden on the understanding that Hayes would remove the federal troops whose support was essential for the survival of Republican state governments in South Carolina, Florida and Louisiana. Under the compromise, Democrats who controlled the House of Representatives allowed the decision of the Electoral Commission to take effect

The easy state to take care of in the courts is Pennsylvania as the Governor and Attorney General violated the Constitution by not abiding by their state legislature's laws. If The Supreme Court is doing it's job, then that state easily falls into Trump's column by disallowing illegal late ballots. Even with though, he'll need to turn other states. I would ignore Ken Starr and just trust the word of the official Pennsylvania Government website. To wit: "Ballots must be postmarked by 8:00pm on Election Day. To ensure your vote counts, mail your ballot back as early as possible."
Obviously, a person casts a mail-in ballot not when it is finally received by election officials, but when it is mailed. So long as it is "cast" by the deadline it shall be counted.
