Why letting ex-felons vote probably won’t swing Florida

Ex-felons vote at low rates. And when they do, there is no strong partisan lean.

He makes a good point.
H4, you with this 'the rule of law will be gone" etc etc... you're watching too much MSNBC and giving their guests way too much credit. They've got you scared bro. Ya gotta believe in the power of our democracy. 4 more years of Trump.... bfd. Then he's out. All laws and executive orders can be changed.
I realize you're relatively young in the big scheme of things.... but don't let them scare you. It'll all work out. The American Spirit is alive and well. There's plenty of "good people on both sides". Trust me. Trump ain't sh*t. At least in the eye's of history.

I'm not that young, I just troll my bio w/a younger age, so you can stop patronizing me. I've seen enough despots rise to power to spot the warning signs and don't need msnbc to tell me so. I've got the means to fuck off up north and wait Trump out, but am heartbroken for the unfortunate few that'll get caught in it. Who knows, I may just return to pick up the pieces.

I'm also old enough to have seen leftist authoritarians rise to power, and this brand of lefty ain't it. So ditto on getting baited into fearing him by the press.

Tip of the spear from Bernie.

The Vermont independent's agenda would guarantee workers eventually take control, through the issuance of new stock, of 20% stakes in the country's largest companies, while mandating that employees elect 45% of corporate boards of directors.

---Even though black ex-felons are overwhelmingly Democratic, the racial breakdown reveals that there are many more nonblack ex-felons, whose political preferences are much less certain.---

If it doesnt help democrats why are republicans trying so hard to stop felons from voting?

Court sides with ex-felons who challenged Florida voting requirement

A federal appeals court on Wednesday upheld an injunction of a Florida law that barred ex-felons from voting if they had not paid fines and other fees related to their sentences.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit agreed with a previous district court's rule halting the law, which was passed by state Republicans in 2019 after a constitutional amendment went through the year prior enfranchising former felons. The three-judge panel ruled that the law violates the Equal Protection Clause because it unconstitutionally bars a class of felons from voting based only on their wealth

"It is undeniable that the [law's legal financial obligation] requirement punishes those who cannot pay more harshly than those who can," the appeals court said Wednesday. "We affirm the district court's preliminary injunction enjoining the defendants ... from preventing the plaintiffs from voting based solely on their genuine inability to pay legal financial obligations."

The amendment to Florida's constitution was first passed in the 2018 midterms, with nearly 65 percent of voters choosing to allow 1.4 million convicted felons to vote following their release from incarceration.

Why is it that felons so strongly identify with the Democratic Party?

Why is it that felons so strongly identify with the Democratic Party?
Why are so many minority felons convicted at a higher rate than whites. Same for those sentenced to death row? Could it be juries - white ones are more prone to "find" guilt in non-whites than our own?

Also felons are still eligible to fight and die "for our freedom" in any of the military branches. Many do. Least we can do is allow them to vote.

Which all leads to vote Dem.
