We may be far from good climate policy, though that's a guess, since only hindsight will prove it one way or another. In the meantime, the most important part of the article is his statement re the absolute certainty of scientists, including himself, of Man's effects on climate.

He could have paired down the above article to four sentences:
Yes, manmade global warming is happening. The basic science on that is settled. Yes we should do something about it. The models need improving and don't account for everything or have high resolution of shorter term changes. (They are not expected to or need to. It is the long term climate changes that matter)

Wow Jem, thx for this, you just crushed my Milton Friedman video you like, Donahue was a jackass, I love how at the start he is berating the oil companies, as the crowd cheers, when it has long since been proven that Government, not free market policy was what led to the oil lines of Jimmy Carter's term. One woman talks about how ITT is going to take over the world, because they are involved in everything, and yet ITT is a small corporation by todays standards. Guess what, 30 years removed from this debate we now have thousands of oil companies, and no single oil company can corner the market for any prolonged period of time. Donahue then goes on to argue that exxon would not have to worry about someone creating a "better mousetrap" because they would just buy up every single competitor and set the prices, yet the next 40 years of capitalism has led to unprecedented growth in both technology, AND standard of living.
The thing that liberals dont seem to understand is that no one is arguing that capitalism perfectly solves everyones problems, all that we are pointing out is that the free market does a better job of solving more peoples problems than big government ever has. Unlike the pie in the sky liberals who are always monkeying with the free market trying to create a utopian system, conservatives have simply grasped the reality that we will never live in a world where every thing is perfect for every single person, and the vast majority of liberal tinkering has led to more hardship, not the opposite.

Aside from stopping evolution, and growth, Id love to hear one of these commies tell me all of the green solutions that have been created by the government.
The only way a thinking individual could logically draw the conclusion that capitalism must end to save the planet, is if they also come to the conclusion that the solution to the planets woes is to die, or de-evolve and move back into caves, and yet, they have the audacity to accuse their opponents of being "Anti-Science"

You just said that to a guy who posted a week or two ago that automotive emissions (or was it fuel efficiency) regulations had worked.
Two of the primary ways car companies have dealt with the increased fuel efficiency requirements are to make cars lighter, and thus less safe, and to continually change the way fuel is injected, thus requiring many engines to have to be partially disassembled to clean the carbon out of them after 60-80 thousand miles.
This according to a car reviewer blog I look at occasionally.
So the increased fuel effic requirements are causing a lot of trouble.
