Took a huge loss not long after RTH
Was short around 1750, had open shorts above
NQ went through it really quick. In not time I was -3,000$

Don't let open orders in the market xD
Use a worst case stop loss.

The 2nd best trade …
A higher low or double bottom
A lower high or a double top

The best trade being the low or high itself
But the perfect trade doesn’t exist.

The worst trade is losing big on the right side.
Often I front run myself only to capitulate on my price level.

Often I take a small profit on a good trade,
Only to reenter at a worst risk & price.

Bad risk at a bad price.

I have personally seen a few of those equity curves of traders i personally knew. Doing well for some time and then all of a sudden lose it all in no time.

I suspect they either were holding a lot of draw down for an extended period of time but weren't showing it and in the end the market went against them in catastrophic way or they finally had a few losses in a row they couldn't cope with and just revenged traded until everything was gone.

Valuable lesson learned from seeing that, accept losses, you can't win 100% of the time and accept them early. Don't be cocky, if you are wrong you are wrong, there is no shame in that.

One reason why it looks better to know your instrument inside / out is, lately the NQ tends to pullback 15 to 20 points when there is a really good trend. Knowing stuffs like this … gives you kind of an edge.

Agreed. Most important breakthrough for me came when I committed to trading one and only one instrument (credit to Al Brooks on that one, he really hammers that point home in his books). It allows you to focus on learning all of its quirks. Been studying nothing but NQ price action for a year now.
