I'm not 100% sure how it worked out. I think Bavaria was aligned with the German Empire, just like it was aligned with the holy Roman empire at one point. Bavaria has it's own culture and it was it's own Kingdom in the German Empire if I recall correctly. Not much of a history buff so I could be wrong.

But Bavaria has a nicer sound to it than Germany. Nobody ever thinks "Nazi Bavaria" when they think of Bavaria. LOL

Yeh, it's complicated and with empires sometime the citizenship is as a citizen of the empire and sometimes it is of nation within the empire.

I don't think Trumps Grandfather was German. He was Bavarian and left long before Bavaria became part of what is now Germany.

It doesn't matter. Even if someone has a beer with a German, they are Nazis!
