The media always over sensationalizes stories to make them sound bigger or greater than they really are.
Big deal...he returned (only) 17% in three years! in a bull market. -- that's hardly nothing to brag about, or write about.

Hmm, yeah... not impressed.... 14k per year... so whooptydoo. Media has nothing better to do again.... f@$#$n Summer...

I'm impressed. He is only 16. Most 16 year olds don't even know what an IRA is and could not define the S and P 500.

The kid has got a good head on his shoulders. Wait until he is 30 and see where he is.

s&p500 was at 1600 in mid 2013... to around 2100 mid this year is 30% return for s&p500... and he does 17%... or maybe 20% from say a start of 200k to 250k-ish now.

Not impressed... though good on him for doing something other than call of duty and pokemon... I give you that @DallasCowboysFan

The weirdest part of the story is he prepared a powerpoint presentation for his parents - wtf, this says a lot about his family - but, unlike most on this site, they lad actually traded, and that is the only way he will learn.

I hope he makes $430K in the next 3 years.

Another story where some person made double digit returns in a bull market. Let's see what happens when the bear market comes....this guy won't even know what's happening...

Or maybe he's using this publicity to pad his way into a nice Ivy League school full scholarship and then a fat summer internship at a top financial institution considering he "dreams" of becoming a hedge fund manager after college.

Its also a great way to save money via a scholarship (if that's his goal) considering university tuition these days are outrageous especially at a top 10 school.

These horse crap stories by narcissists are pumped by under employed "journalists" to prepare the next batch of pigs for the markets.

These stories usually get discredited after a few days/weeks/months, remember the kid from Queens who had supposedly made a boat load during lunch break....
