Quote from DHOHHI:
Do you have a reading comprehension problem? Kindly point out to me where I stated, or even suggested, that the kids I mentor and tutor are "garbage".
My reading and comprehension skills are sound, as I will attempt to show you. Whether or not you will be able to see is another subject.
Quote from DHOHHI:
I've spent the last 12 years volunteering in schools and the last 7 in high poverty schools with 85 - 95% black kids. Of the 5 - 15% who are white or "other" ... they overall are better behaved and more focused on learning.
Here you are giving us a background which has you making scientific and statistical correlations between skin color and behavior patterns over the course of 12 years.
Quote from DHOHHI:
Now before anyone accuses me of being a racist I've mentored black kids.
Just a little FYI, mentoring black kids doesn't prove in any way that you are not racist.
Many child rapists have mentored the very children they have raped.
Quote from DHOHHI:
Next, statistically very few black parents ever come to parent-teacher conferences.
Here you are giving more scientific conclusions that has led you to believe you are qualified to stereotypically separate one race from another.
Quote from DHOHHI:
Teachers try to track down the [black]parents since most[black] parents have cell phone (likely freebies) but many of these parents don't seem to care about how their kid(s) are doing.
Here you are making a blatantly ignorant conjecture based on zero fact.
Your reasoning for presuming the cell phones were freebies is due to the skin color of the parents in which you are referring to.
This is just another example of your propensity to statistically correlate skin color with behaviors, attitudes, and resulting consequences.
Quote from DHOHHI:
I had a kid 2 years ago as a 5th grader who I bet will be dead or in prison before he's 17. He was a thug, didn't care about learning and had little, if any, respect for teachers or other adults.
Here you are making a prediction of where you believe one of your students (among others) will end up, due to his behavior issues, which soon after, you clearly attribute to a lack of parental guidance.
This particular student you refer to at the time being as a "thug", but as we shall clearly see, "garbage" is what you also have in mind.
For you to say this "thug" will quite soon end up in the morgue or in prison, means you would have to imagine the circumstance(s) which has you mentally placing him in either of those two facilities.
Please consider carefully the question in which I am about to ask you.
Can you honestly say that it would surprise you to learn, at some future point in time, that this 5th grade "thug" student of yours has committed an act very similar to the ones in which the 3 kids on video are committing?
Think about this.
Don't let an itchy tongue supersede an unconsidered thought.
If the answer to that question is yes, and that it would come as a surprise, then I will humbly recant my statement that you have referred to your own student(s) as garbage.
I will then gladly issue to you a formal and sincere apology for my misunderstanding of your judgement.
However, if the answer to that question is no, and in actuality, it is exactly the type of crime you would expect your student to commit, then you must also, by default, be referring to your own student(s) as garbage.
Quote from DHOHHI:
Bottom line IMO is that if parents continue to bring kids into the world that they have no means of supporting -- financially, emotionally or otherwise then the kids repeat the same mistakes of their parents.
Here you are showing some inkling of understanding where part of the problem lies.
You seem to have some basic understanding(and hopefully compassion) for some of these children, who have not been given the same hand in life that you point out the majority of the white kids at your school are being given.
You yourself have admitted to being one of those kids who was fortunate to have had adamant parents that took care of you throughout your younger years.
They (your parents) worked hard to give you the skills and means to live a happy existence in what can be a very tough world for many.
What is perhaps most telling, is that even though you show you have a pretty good understanding of why these kids are turning out the way they do, you choose to ignore the cause, and instead label these less than fortunate children as garbage.
This a rather large tell of the sanctimonious prejudice you have for many of your own students.
