NeoTrader, I agree about the burocracy, Italy it's a nightmare. But... Would any other country give you citizenship if your great grandfather was from there? Would the Brits, Swiss or Austrian give you citizenship with the same conditions Italy did?

First off, chill man... You should not care that much about what people think, specially if you're that proud of your country. It's all good.

Second, we actually met 2 brazilian couples in Vienna by chance: one of them, he had the Austrian citizenship because of his grandfather, and his wife, who was Bolivian, had gotten the Austrian citizenship by marriage. The other, he had the swiss citizenship because of the grandfather too and she had the same situation as my wife, being Brazilian, with the residence permit in Austria because of him. Also, my sister-in-law has the Dutch Citizenship because of the grandparents, my brother naturally has the Italian citizenship and their daughter will probably opt for the Dutch, because it's way easier to deal with the Dutch Consulate than the Italian one.

I actually speak English, Italian, German and naturally Portuguese. I can also manage some french because of an intermediary course I took during college.
I would say the cultural differences between Brazil and Austria are far greater than between Brazil and Italy, but me and my wife got along great in Austria and, as already said, Italy was a nightmare from start to finish. That doesn't mean that you can't love Italy. I'm sure you do and you have a ton of reasons to do so. It's a good thing that we have many different places to choose from.

For the Italians, pizza is the equivalent of junk food guilty pleasure. The Italian menu is massive, 20 regions with 20 different local cuisine and 20 different dialects. Even the pizza is a different world between Naples and Rome.

People, please, don't go to Italy. Stay where the fuck you are from, italians have enough of fat tourists taking pictures and pretending everyone should speak fucking english....
