U.S. should have left the U.N. years ago. Boot their asses out of the prime real estate and let the hand wringers compose their strongly worded protests elsewhere. They are the purest definition of useful idiots manning a useless bureaucracy.
Surely a sovereign state has the right to whom or what to recognize. The vote would seem to contradict everything the UN stands for (if it stands for anything, that is). Certainly the American people can debate or question the decision (I for one think it to be a breath of fresh air), but the UN has no right to condemn a sovereign state in this matter.
Of course it does have the right to condemn a sovereign state unilaterally breaking with a long held agreement. The Rotary club has no right to comment on how you do something at home, if however you are working with with them on a project of theirs, the committee has every right to stick its oar in, that is why it exists.

The US makes a massive profit, don't worry about that.

That is to begin with. Now add arms sales.
The UN is really an extension of US defense policy. There is a lot to run through before you conclude you are being ripped off.

If this is true, then you should not have a problem if we cut this part of our defense budget.
