Surely a sovereign state has the right to whom or what to recognize. The vote would seem to contradict everything the UN stands for (if it stands for anything, that is). Certainly the American people can debate or question the decision (I for one think it to be a breath of fresh air), but the UN has no right to condemn a sovereign state in this matter.

If this is true, then you should not have a problem if we cut this part of our defense budget.The US makes a massive profit, don't worry about that.

That is to begin with. Now add arms sales.
The UN is really an extension of US defense policy. There is a lot to run through before you conclude you are being ripped off.
