Slavery is more prevalent now than in any time in history. ---But not in The US.---The US was never majority slave owners and we got rid of the Democrat party practice of slavery. By they way, just as an aside, piracy on the open seas is more prevalent now than at any time in history.

I want to know and this thread is about the majority of republicans in Congress still wanting monuments of the people who owned and fought to keep black people slaves.

What was the purpose of owning slaves or any human being. We're thinking in general terms. Slavery has been around for a long time.
The US was never majority slave owners and we got rid of the white conservatives in the confederate states practice of slavery.White conservatives in the confederate states today still consider those people heroes deserving of monuments though.

Not really.Racist conservatives mostly from the confederate south love it and fought a war against The US to keep it. Racist conservatives mostly from the confederate south still see them as heroes deserving of monuments today.
