I also expressed my views that autotrading strategies do not offer high returns on inv, as in my opinion they are there to preserve capital against inflation, etc.

Need I respond?:D

I have done at least 1% a day 5 years out of 20+ I have been trading, in a few of those years did substantially better than 1% a day (4%+).

It is all about account size. It is possible to make 1% a day on $100k if you are very lucky very good and in the zone the whole year, it is unbelievably difficult to do it on a $1M account (have never done it), $100m, $1B? Probably impossible.

When I hear about guys managing Billions making 20% + returns I am in total awe and recognize that I am nowhere near their league.

This is depressing I am not even near your league...then a couple of automating kids come in here and show me that I am not even near their league...and I believe you Mvic.

Is this automated? This poll is only referring to automated trading.

Different trading styles ES. I have reached max drawdown (blow out) a few years too though thankfully not in the last decade. I start each year with $100K balance and my max draw down is $150K (I stop trading for the year if I hit it). Not a style that everyone can or would want to emulate. Just keep plugging away, being consistently profitable is the name of the game and if you can make 10% with a system that is scalable to Billions then you will end up making much more in the long run than someone who can generate outsized returns but only on small amounts and inconsistently.

ok i feel better now...but man your returns are awesome...I know you have been around the block.

No, not automated, glad I didn't vote in the poll ;-)

Jet lagged and can't sleep. Just checking in on ET and saw the thread but didn't bother to read it, sorry, disregard.

The poll question was "1% a day consistently, no down weeks: possible?" Yet 50% of responders say it's possible. But then people who say they make 1% a week talk about large drawdowns. Are people even reading the poll question before answering?

Probably not. More than half the people here said they are not auto-trading. Next time I'll be sure to word the poll properly.. I guess being in the Automated forum doesn't mean much.
