1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

one must be concerned that shooting one self in the foot has not become a republican tradition . if a democratic congress should happen the unnamed pollyannas of which there are more than one will be flipping hamburgers.

Pollyannas or not unless the individual has enough in the bank they will be doing something different or finding a way around it, whats your point? And fixation upon "pollyannas"?

I find it quite amusing that you make remarks critical of Republicans, when it was the Democratic Party has had super 'filibuster proof' majorities in the U.S. Congress for Obama's first two years as President, and yet, not one of the many Defazio FTT bills ever came up for a vote under the Democrat dominated congress.
RC822 is right. Better get back to your burger flipping, because you're way too ignorant to do much else.

dem's controlled all 3 branches for 2 years, and both congress and the house for 6 years and the defagio bill never saw the light of day.

That's true, and there are times when I feel a bit complacent. But there's so much at stake here we need to do two things: (a) stick together and (b) keep fighting the pro-FTT gang. If we lose, we lose everything.

The FTT is the rallying cry of the unions. Unions have money and votes. Politicians sell their souls for money and votes. Anything can happen.

the US in the currently dire circumstances may be swinging to the left. if there is a democratic congress the results may not be the same.

as to flipping hamburgers don't be childish by giving a schoolyard retort. your remark that the outcome is likely to be the same already shows that you have made an error in logic.

I already said I should have not mentioned any specific names.

by the way I like my hamburger medium rare.

Cameron (EU summit) -

"In the spirit of this healthy competition with France, if France goes for a financial transactions tax then the door will be open and we'll be able to open many more French banks and businesses to the UK and we'll expand our economy in that way."

That's awesome!!

Mr Sarkozy said France was "aligning" itself more with Germany rather than with its "British friends" by supporting industry and launching plans to unilaterally impose a 0.1pc tax on financial transactions.
The President's comments in Brussels followed his statement earlier in the day that Britain is a country with "no industry", which he claimed as he set out "shock measures" to reinvigorate France's faltering economy.
However, Mr Cameron who was also speaking that the EU leaders summit in Brussels, hit back by calling the transaction tax "extraordinary".
"We are not going to rebalance [the economy] by punishing a successful industry, such as financial services. It is a widespead industry and one of country's strengths.
"If other countries want to put in place a financial transaction tax, I do think it's an extraordinary thing to do. The European Commission has told us that would cost Europe half a million jobs. To do something that would cost so many jobs does seem to me to be extraordinary.

The Prime Minister added: "In the spirit of this healthy competition with France... If France goes for a financial transactions tax, then the door will be open and we will be able to welcome many French banks to the United Kingdom and we'll expand our economy that way."

I like the way Cameron keeps on emphasising 500,000 job losses.

As a politician he knows most people will not understand the nasty detailed consequences of an FTT. Even most of the politicians around the world have no idea of all the consequences of the FTT.

1/12/2012 Gallup Poll: By a 2-1 margin (40% - 21%), Conservatives outnumber Liberals in the U.S. 35% consider themselves moderate but skew more toward conservatism.

Well, there goes your U.S. swinging to the left theory out the window. Quit while you're behind.

how did obama win with those numbers? why are republicans not leading in current polls?
statistics are obviously not your strong point.

lol. You're beyond stupid for anyone's professional help. Keep working on improving that pigeon English of yours. What happens if the U.S. and other countries enact a global FTT? As far as your concerned, nothing. You'll still be flipping burgers, and speaking pigeon English. Later Ladka Gravis!
